Description

Fireside is a kosher steakhouse in Monsey that pairs elegant lighting and lively atmosphere with a creative menu and generally attentive service, making it a popular spot for celebrations and local fine dining. Many praise its steaks, presentation and convenient amenities like mobile payments and parking, though guests sometimes report small portions, steep prices, occasional slow service and inconsistent seasoning. Busy evenings can be noisy—upstairs seating is recommended for quieter meals. Overall, a high-quality local alternative to city steakhouses if you accept Manhattan-style prices and occasional variability.

Most dishes are very good, not great. Since the original cook left food is a notch, in my opinion. Manhattan prices, but not with Tabernacle or Mike's Bistro, for example. Ambiance is terrible, often having a baby crying or having a loud table of Yentas in your ear. If you are in the Monsey region, I would still recommend trying it out. Just set your expectations.

Eating at Fireside was an amazing experience. The ambiance is elegant and relaxing. The staff were friendly and eager to please. The food was really delicious. 2 specific things that were amazing were the egg roll and the hanger steak. Loved the convenience of being able to pay on my phone. 5 stars!!!

The ambiance was unimpressive and reminiscent of an average, lackluster eatery. I was dining with my partner and three family members. Although there was a bottle of water already on the table, we had to request cups. When the water ran out, we had to ask for more and it took quite some time for them to bring it. I ordered the 30-day aged crusted ribeye, as recommended by the waitress, who claimed it was fantastic. When it was served, I was disappointed to find a rather small piece of steak, which was more rare than the medium doneness we requested, and it lacked the flavor we anticipated—it tasted like an ordinary, unimpressive cut of meat. There wasn't any sauce or accompaniment with it. The side consisted of chopped potatoes (no way near truffle potatoes) and cherry tomatoes. I really question how simply adding cherry tomatoes qualifies as a “seasonal harvest.” The presentation was as unappealing as the taste; the potatoes were dry and bland. I didn’t even bother to taste the tomatoes, as I couldn’t comprehend why anyone would serve uncooked, unseasoned cherry tomatoes alongside potatoes. For an $86 dish, this was utterly disheartening. We were celebrating a special occasion, and I was too embarrassed to voice my concerns. It’s shameful for a restaurant to serve such poor quality food and charge so much for it. The service was unimpressive as well; when they came to clear our plates, my boyfriend and I were still eating. I alerted them that we weren't finished, while my family had already completed their meals, and they took their plates away immediately despite us not being done. The staff member gave me a very disapproving look, prompting my family to joke about how rude the staff's reaction was. Additionally, we had been there for less than an hour, so it wasn't a matter of them trying to rush us out, although we felt definitely hurried. Overall, this was not a pleasant experience. The food was far from good, and the prices were outrageous. Save your money and avoid this place, especially if you're celebrating a special occasion—it’s truly a disappointment.

We had a wonderful experience at the restaurant! It's fantastic to have such a high-quality dining option right here in Monsey, eliminating the need to travel to the city. The atmosphere is both comfortable and elegant, with lovely lighting on the tables and carefully chosen music at just the right volume, creating a great ambiance. The service was attentive and friendly! The menu offered a great variety of intriguing dishes, and everything we had was not only delicious but also beautifully presented. Thank you for making our special occasion celebration last night so perfect! Dena and Shimon Kerner
