Love this place. Get the seat by the window if you can & enjoy the view & Marco working the beer pumps. Great choice of beers & decent quality German food at a great price. View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Zum Haller:
This place feels more like a locals' tavern or pub than a restaurant. The food was basic German fare, reasonably priced and, for once, not too salty. The service was good, especially since it was absolutely full.I enjoyed the pub-like atmosphere, and I mean old school pub, not what most UK pubs have turned into. This was the sort of pub where friends just go for a drink.Prost! View all feedback.

Zum Haller was by far the nicest restaurant we have been during our short holiday in Monschau. We spent a good couple of hours drinking good beer, playing cards (strippoker only allowed after 10 pm :p) and having a decent and tasteful meal for a more than reasonable price. The host and hostess serve with a smile, no matter how busy they are.
This was the last night of our two week holiday. We discovered Germany last year and the food, drink and people are all brilliant! We chose this place as the number 1 on trip advisor and for the first time ever felt cheated. The soup starter was surely tinned and came with dry sliced white bread. The Schnitzel was the worst by a long way of the many we had in Germany. This restaurant is a real disappointment and I would recommend avoiding it if you want anything like December food.
After 2 weeks motorbiking around Germany, we'd had some great food. The only meal we were truly disappointed With was here. I simply can not believe it's rated no.1. Seriously fellow travellers, this is not a good representation of German food. The soup. I'm pretty sure was tinned. And the Schnitzel was terrible. I had gypsy sauce, which tasted like a jar of "chicken tonight" sauce. The wine was warm... and the bread was slightly stale white sliced stuff that looked like an economy loaf.Avoid this place.
