Ray's Pege - Monroe
Ray's Pege
Description
At Ray's Pege, the experience is a mixed bag reminiscent of its former glory. While friendly service and a cozy atmosphere are constants, the food quality varies. Diners rave about the Philly po-boy's deliciousness, especially when paired with gravy, yet some feel let down by dry meats and altered recipes. Nostalgia plays a strong role, drawing loyal patrons back, even as they notice changes in flavors and preparation. Despite a few disappointing dishes, the overall atmosphere and commitment to customer satisfaction hint at potential improvements, making it worth a second visit for those seeking comfort food in a welcoming setting.

Eating at Ray's Pege has become a tradition for me and my father whenever we visit my grandmother in Monroe. This holiday season, I am visiting her on my own but I didn't want to skip our tradition. When I walked into the cozy restaurant, the friendly atmosphere instantly made me feel welcome. I decided to try the Philly po-boy with curly fries and didn't have to wait long for my meal. Despite being located by the highway, the atmosphere both inside and outside was surprisingly peaceful. The po-boy was absolutely delicious, especially when dipped in the gravy. The fries were hot, crispy, and tasty whether eaten with gravy or ketchup.
My husband and our worker loved their meals. While I thoroughly enjoyed the fried pickles, they put the dressing on my salad themselves . My salad was drowning in Italian dressing and no amount of Crackers and even my husband's cornbread made it better. Great place all together, but I would like to dress my own salad,in so weird, I'm sorry.
The fried fish and potatoes are mouthwatering, and my son absolutely loves the Po Boys.
It's was awesome, We got there about 730pm, and they were closing but the fixed us right up and insisted we stay. Just letting you know so in case you decide to go, just remember they close at 730 sharp. Gravy and good still taste just like it did in my 20s, hell they even had the same waitress They had in my 20s.
