Contribute Feedback What John G likes about India House:
It looks like an old taco bell from the outside, but their food is the best Indian in the quad cities by a small margin, but you get more for your money and they give you what you ordered (they are often a little light on heat but don't make the wrong dish spicy). Be aware that some biriani have bones with the meat (usually extra tender, but not my preferred for kids). You just need to check. Final advice: their week... View all feedback.
Just a heads up: some of the biryani may contain bones with the meat, which is usually very tender, but this might not be ideal for children, so it's best to check beforehand. As for the dining options, I recommend ordering directly rather than opting for their weekday buffet, which isn't nearly as good. I've heard that the weekend buffet is better, but I haven't had the chance to try it myself. My advice: order ahead and skip the buffet—it’s just way better that way. My Indian coworkers rave about the food when ordered, but they tend to avoid the buffet. Also, when it comes to carryout, they’ll tell you it will take around 15-20 minutes, but it’s almost always ready sooner than that. We absolutely love this place!
The restaurant does not serve chai milk tea; they only offer black hot tea. However, the food is consistently good, arrives promptly, and the portion sizes are generous.
I stopped by this place on my way to Iowa and what a gem it is! The food was excellent. I haven't had good chole bhature in a long time, and it tasted just like homemade. I also ordered dal makhani and veg biryani, both of which impressed me. The spice level was just right, and the spice blend was perfectly balanced.
Food was quite good and portions were fine! Server, however, was a bit confused and confusing. For example, one entree arrived before all orders were taken. Would definitely go back.
The food was amazing and full of flavor! However, I do have one concern: there was a significant amount of black mold on the ceiling in the restroom.
