King William Iv - Feedback

Was Donna Griffiths at King William Iv a mag?
A nice cosy pub on top of a hill. We came here for a Sunday Roast in the middle of a Box Hill circular walk. The food was very nice by pub standards and the staff were friendly. I would recommend! View all feedback.
What Martin S dislikes about King William Iv:
We chose this pub because of its beautiful view. We had dressed crab, which was on special offer that day, and it was delightful. It would have been better with mayonnaise rather than Caesar dressing on the salad, though. The service was charming and attentive but sadly we were unable to leave a tip because there was no way of adding that to our credit card payment View all feedback.

Not sure why it's still table service only for just drinks and it took ages to come despite the plethora of earnest young waiting staff. Accept prices are high for the amazing view but not being given a notice about tipping as well just for drinks; the girl hung around expectantly. And my husband said the beer was hazy, not bad enough to return but he didn't finish it. We've been visiting the pub for 45 years and still only one ladies toilet for the number of visitors. We had thought of returning for a meal but weren't impressed enough.
Didn't go inside but nice outside seating area and the food was good, Sunday roast x 2 admittedly the beef was a bit over done and portion size could be better, but my dining companion enjoyed the lamb. Nice place to go after a local walk.
Great food with plenty of choices for vegans as well as vegetarians and meat eaters. Wonderful beer garden with beautiful views of the Surrey Hills.
Great food staff friendly and helpful a good experience
Visitors to this pub can expect a nostalgic 1980s décor, luke-warm meals, and some issues with service and cleanliness. However, the roast beef, gravy, and apple crumble are highlights, as are the views outside. Drinks can be slow to arrive and come at a high price, with unclear tipping policies. The staff is young and friendly, though some training could be beneficial. Despite mixed experiences with service, the food is generally tasty. The Sunday roasts, particularly the lamb, come recommended. Overall, the independent free house in Mickleham with views over the Surrey Hills is charming, with excellent service and food.

A delightful gem of a restaurant which is clearly very popular. We squeezed in a reservation online, but it was packed (on a Wednesday evening). This is an enchanting location with a scenic view, a genial host and great food. We had risotto and calamari as our two mains. Thoroughly recommended.
Great location, great views, great food and service, lovely staff. What more could you want ? A lovely English country pub operating at the top of its game. Will definitely be returning.
Really charming, a cozy pub a little on the hill with a lot of outdoors, many under protection, with magnificent view over the valley. delicious and well presented eating, I had the sunday roast lamb that was tender and tasty. really friendly and helpful team of servers. we are coming back to the final.
Went here for a new year's Day lunch after a walk round box hill. Vegan food was incredible friends all enjoyed the burger and the vegan pie special was to die for. Honestly some of the best vegan pub food we've ever had, we were talking about it the whole way home. Staff were really friendly and attentive. Would definitely come back if we were in the area. Only downside was tips were cash only so we couldn't leave a tip the staff team so deserved. Thanks Eamon and all
Gorgeous little pub tucked away from the main road, plenty of outdoor seating, SUPER friendly and efficient staff and the most delectable lamb roast I’ve ever eaten. I ordered fries instead of roast potatoes and damn they were crispy. They only take cash tips so bring cash cause you’ll need it for this place, hats off to the staff!
