Ali Raj in Newdigate is one of the few dining options in the area, but it doesn't rely solely on its location. The menu is impressive and the food served is excellent. The service is courteous, fast, and effective. View all feedback.

I have to say, it had been months since we last went out, and our first outing, at my suggestion, was to your restaurant in Newdigate. Excellent curry house outside in the sticks, but worth the trip
I have to say, it had been months since we last went out, and our first outing, at my suggestion, was to your restaurant in Newdigate. The food we ordered was decent, but unfortunately some items we wanted were not available. The portions were very small, especially the rice. We also asked for water which was forgotten, twice. One of the starters was incorrect and had to be replaced. When the bill arrived, I was shocked at how expensive it was, especially with a 15% service charge added on top. And to top it off, we were told they had run out of mushrooms! I didn't want to cause a scene in front of my family, since it was my idea to go there in the first place, so we paid and left.
The Ali Raj used to be excellent years ago, but it eventually declined in quality with poor service and subpar food. We stopped going altogether. However, I am happy to report that it is now under new management and has been rebranded as Spice Tavern. The new proprietor is very pleasant and has been a part of the community for many years. Due to redevelopments at his previous restaurant location, he now has a superb new spot to call his own. Good luck, Adam, and we look forward to visiting soon.
Visited on Friday night. Once again another superb meal. Very relaxing restaurant. Staff friendly. As usual the food was delicious. My only criticism is that the wine prices never match what's on the menu, but it's only ever £1-£2 out, and is not that much of an issue. Well worth a visit as this place is a hidden gem. The best curry house in Surrey.
Went there as a last minute decision. Well I really wish we hadn't. Chicken 65 was my wife's starter. Dry chewy and not nice. I had chicken chat. Boiled chicken with limp cucumber over powered by white pepper. Main course was no better. We thought we'd been transported back to the 70s .all in all a really poor experience never to be repeated. Totally understand why the place was almost empty.
