This is a little gem of a restaurant. We visited it 4 or 5 times during our stay in Mojacar. The first couple of times we just called in for coffees or a drink whilst out walking, then we tried it for lunch once and dinner twice. What timtomted doesn't like about Meson San Bernabe:
My wife and I visited San Bernabe on 11th June this year. Only writing now as laptop has been broken. Wasn’t busy and was welcomed by a friendly waitress. Food was OK, nothing special. House wine €10.00. Two courses and a bottle of house wine was €53.00. Would we visit again? If everywhere else was busy, probably, but wouldn’t plan to go there. View all feedback.
Stopped in for lunch not long after they opened for the day. Good service, we’ll cooked good as described on the menu and good portions. We had scrambled egg, grilled prawns and pizza. Really thin crust and tasty pizza caprichosa.
Had lunch at San Bernabe during a holiday. Classy little restaurant with a low key approach but friendly all the same. Nice interior. We had fried mussels, meatballs sauce and pork kebabs. All good. Less prominent location than some if the other restaurants but this gives it a bit of intimacy. Well done!
Very slow service but on the positive side the waitress who served the drinks was very pleasant. We ordered the half rations of Calamari Scrambled eggs with cod prawns. Both meals were ok but there was only a tiny bit of cod and no prawns. When we got the bill we had been charged for full meals. On questioning the bill we were told we had full meals and never asked for the half rations. We argued this as there was no way we had full meals, the waiter manger got very aggressive and insisted we pay. Due to our limited Spanish it was very difficult to complain further so had to pay the inflated bill. What a rip off!! Also the drinks were over priced compared to other restaurants in the area. Will never go there again
Good quality of wine and good sized tasty tapas. Very pleasant service. We sat outside in the sun. The interior is lovely. Toilets spotless.

One of the lunch time specials for two people to share is half a roast chicken served with salad and chips and a bottle of wine for 17 euros basic fare but well cooked, the wine was palatable and you can't argue about value for money. The two occasions we went for dinner we sat inside the restaurant which is smartly set out. On both occasions the food was very good and the service friendly and efficient. This is definitely on our radar when we revisit Mojacar again.
