While many lay claim to being 'the bes... read more The Viennese are big ice cream eaters during the summer and ice cream parlours abound all the city and surrounding areas. While many lay claim to being 'the best' there is none better than Eis Peter in Mödling (although Eissalon Laxenburg in nearby Laxenburg - which was once owned by the same people - is equally as good). A wide selection of flavours to have by the scoop or try some of their specialties - you won't regret it.

A fami... read more Saturday and a one of the first hot day of the summer. Very crowded but happy to find a table free. And then waiting...5min...10min...No waiter around... A family with children behind us at a table with the same situation. So we stood up and went and bought the ice-cream directly from the counter. Surprise - the waiter appears pissed off that we are not allowed to stay at the tables if we bought the ice-cream by ourselves. We said anyhow we are almost finished, but we would like a coffee. Guest what - the rude waiter tells us again that we are not allowed to sit at the table if we bought by ourselves the ice-cream and repeats this 3 times as we where deaf. So tell us what shall I do - I should now stand up from the table - go finish my ice-cream on the side walk and then come back and sit down to order a coffee? Are you serious? After 10 min the coffee arrives, fast espresso infusion shot and then guess what - wait for another 15 min to pay because the rude guy was nowhere to be found...I am sorry for all the nice people that work at the counter, for the very good ice-cream, but the attitude of one waiter can ruin everything. And we just wanna an ice-cream and a coffee afterwards. We were not impolite, and we tried to understand the situation, but this is no excuse for his rude behavior.
