Altos (formerly Mexicali Grill)

I'm going here at least once the week. addicted, lol. I'm gluten-free and eat clean, so sometimes it's not easy to find a healthy restaurant that tastes good. it's like eating Mexican, cleaned. healthy and fresh. love, love this place!

Honestly there 's a first time for everything I guess. So I had the Mexicali burrito and truth be told it was full of flavor everything inside it was good except for one thing. It was cold. I 'm not sure if that 's normal for this place but hey I 've always said to friends and family the best burritos are so good even when they 're cold I would like to have had a hot one though for my first experience. I wasn 't expecting that but at least it was good. Staff was friendly and the place was completely empty so can 't tell how well they really do.

Confusing menu. Chicken parmesan and chicken stir-fry wraps? Pasta bowls? In a Mexican restaurant? Made in house salsas, disappointing.

We didn't know the place existed. So glad we came to try it. Fresh and light but with great flavor. I had the vegetariano de lujo (a vegetarian dish) and it was delicious. My husband enjoyed his burrito too.

I love the chicken protein plate. It just taste so clean and fresh. I always feel better after eating healthy and there are plenty of choices at Mexicali. I really like the sit down lunch environment at a great value. Its a must try in McHenry Village. The staff are really great. Rocco really does a great job.
