drive through Mobile and need a place to eat? Stop it or you're doing it wrong! it is worth the 7-minute drive from I-10. be ready for some of the best bbq I've ever had and I'm from Texas, have a smoker and cook them on him all the time. I don't do it. you guys, you're gay and ripe are some of the best I ever had. the okra as supplement is required (then I am later) this place is an American institution. go in, look... I’m really disappointed. I used to enjoy their food years ago, but it seems to have lost the flavor I remember. I ordered some food for my mom's birthday, and it was just terrible. I got three knuckle sandwiches, and they were as tough as actual knuckles. The meat was anything but tender. I got three knuckle sandwiches, and they were as tough as actual knuckles. The meat was anything but tender. We went, but we ended up getting essentially the same sandwiches.
Average experience overall. Nothing remarkable. I ordered a pulled pork sandwich, fries, and coleslaw. The pulled pork lacked flavor on its own, and the BBQ sauce tasted vinegar-based. The fries weren’t homemade. The coleslaw was good, though. I also felt the prices were a bit steep for what we received.
If you find yourself driving through Mobile and looking for a place to eat, make sure to stop here—it's a must! It's definitely worth the short 7-minute detour off I-10. Get ready to enjoy some of the best BBQ I've ever tasted, and I'm from Texas, where BBQ is serious business. I own a smoker and cook frequently, so believe me when I say this isn't an exaggeration. Their chicken, pork, and ribs are absolutely outstanding. Don't miss out on the okra as a side dish—trust me on this one! This restaurant is truly an American institution. Once you step inside, take a moment to look around; you'll feel the sense of royalty that comes with such a beloved place.
I really like the menu choices. I went during lunch. I ordered the rib tips with fried green tomatoes, mac-n-cheese, corn bread and a water. There was sauce on the side. The sauce was really delicious! The staff was friendly. It wasn't packed but there was a steady stream of customers. I could take my time and enjoy. I would recommend this place to others. I will definitely be back myself.
As first-time visitors originally from Atlanta, we moved here four months ago and have been wanting to check this place out for quite some time. We found Odessa to be wonderfully patient during our visit as she trained us on the menu...
