Ordered the pork sisig upon recommendation by my lovely waiter and he was right, it was delicious! Not too fatty and very flavourful. Good price too considering that rice is already included. Finished off with the mango float and that was pretty tasty as well. Food: 4 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 4 View all feedback.
What Frank Fischer doesn't like about Ven'z Kitchen:
We were here with 4 people for dinner, it started with toothbrush cups that you get with your drink. For the starter Lompia, well it can go on like this, unfortunately it doesn't do it, four different main courses, some with hard rice and dripping with fat. Well, maybe a dessert can save it, the local specialty, mango float, hard as concrete and only eaten after about 20 minutes. A pity View all feedback.
What an incredible discovery—this is truly the only gem of a restaurant in Malboal! Venz's Kitchen has a cool, Bohemian vibe with its al fresco setting primarily made of bamboo and local wood. Although the wait for dinner can be long, it is definitely worth it. The menu is extensive, offering some of the best food I've tasted during my 20 days in the Philippines, where I tried many different places. I especially loved the chicken sisig, and everyone in our party thoroughly enjoyed their dishes. The pork, chicken, and seafood were all delicious and packed with flavor. The staff provided excellent service as well. I highly recommend this restaurant!
While I appreciated their efforts toward inclusivity, it’s hard not to think about the tough living conditions faced by many Filipinos, especially with the pandemic lockdown looming. It’s made me appreciate my own dietary choices even more. But I digress… You can really tell that Ven'z prioritizes freshness; all their seafood dishes are prepared to order. I was disappointed that I couldn’t try their kinilaw, but the *Chicken Afritada* (P200) offered a comforting alternative! The use of real chicken breast was a nice touch, although it might have been slightly overcooked and a tad dry. Thankfully, the rich and well-developed tomato-based stew made up for it. I found it adorable that they shaped the rice into a heart! The *Mango Float* came highly recommended, and seeing most diners around us ordering it raised our expectations. They prepare and freeze these desserts in advance, making it impressive how they can craft the mango slices into a rose shape! The custard at the bottom was absolutely divine. Overall, Ven'z delivers a fine dining experience that sets it apart from many other restaurants in the province. They’ve discovered a winning formula that allows them to source the diverse ingredients needed to create such delicious meals, making them a delightful anomaly in the local dining scene.
We visited this restaurant with a large group, and it was completely full. Although we had to wait for a little while, everything ran very efficiently. They have a dedicated section for vegan and vegetarian dishes on the menu, which I really appreciated. I tried the coconut eggplant and the vegan spring rolls, and both were delicious! The staff was very friendly, and the service was much quicker than at other places we've been to.
Everything was delicious! The highlight was definitely the Sizzling Pork Sisig; my family of nine loved it so much that we ordered two more after finishing just one. We also got a second serving of Pakbet Ilokano. They don’t sell bottled water, but they have a filtered water dispenser that requires coin pesos for use. No worries, though—I found cold bottled water at a store just a few steps away, which made much more sense for my large family visiting from America for the first time. Given the heat and humidity, we were all sweating a lot!
Excellent Filipino cuisine with a wide variety of options, including plenty for vegetarians. The atmosphere is enjoyable and inviting. Don't miss the mango ice cream dessert—it's fantastic! Overall, I rate the food 5/5, the service 4/5, and the atmosphere 5/5.
