Gasthaus Ferchensee - Mittenwald

We visited after snow-covered hike from the castle elmau. eating was good, beer was good, a nice menu of local specialties. scenery from the huge picture window was charming. we were watching the birds and the horses. (It seems to be a stop for a horse. pulled sled immediately next to the restaurant, but we came to foot personal were efficient. the perfect place for a warm lunch on a cold day.

We wandered the way from the middle of the forest and enjoyed this beautiful little place on the lake. the outside seats are wonderful. also our dessert and coffee was good. but from the moment we went into us, we felt as if they really hadn't wanted us there.

Hike here from the city and claim their due reward of a beer and a bratwurst in the beer garden next to the lake. good eating, nice staff, wein is quite cheap, in the middle of forest beer is well maintained. try them and time their arrival so that it. not coincide with the bus that involves, as it tends to be a little hurry.

We had lunch yesterday and the place was full. we called the waitress twice that we wanted to place our orders. at the second call she called that we only have to wait! other guests who came after us were waiting on the way. before she came into our way. after the order, we noticed that the waitresses wept, who shout out, which judgment they had; the guests who first called served first. absolutely no organization. we were served our dishes per infestation and one of us (final) was served when the rest was already finished! eating was good and the drinks were cool, but the unexisting organization ruined the day!

Located very close to high end Schloss Elmau luxury retreat this restaurant is a typical bavarian tourist place. It is not associated with Elmau. But: the food is absolutely authentic and of acceptable quality. The menu just offers typical bavarian dishes at reasonable price level,...but tasty as you may have walked a little more than one one from Schloss Elmau. If the weather is nice you can enjoy the large and beergarden-like terrace. I liked my Wienerschnitzel !
