What User doesn't like about Godavari - South Indian Grandma's Kitchen:
Service was slow even though the place was nearly empty. They did not consider Friday night was a weekend.Half the restaurant was closed with the chairs riding the tables. The food was below average and the price was far more than comparable others. Also the quantity in many cases were disappointing.Last but not the least... the back office and washroom really told the story...this place needs a new lease of life or it... The chutneys are the best I have had, especially the ginger chutney and the coconut and green chillies. Every dish was delicious, and made with genuine care. Service was excellent, and food arrived in a timely, but not rushed, manner. Grandmother would be proud!
Dropped by on Friday for dinner. Restaurant has only been open for two weeks in Mississauga. Yet it was busy. Sambhar was amazingly flavourful and dosa and vada too were great. Am certainly hooked on this place, since the competitor is too crowded and busy.
Wonderful place and food. We have been regular customers at Godavari since it opened for business. We were never disappointed till date. We had my Son's birthday celebrated last week at Godavari. My work place colleagues and my Wife's work colleagues also joined us. Most of them are not aware of South Indian Food and were allergic to nuts. We requested Godavari to be very sensitive to their preferences. We were promised by Chef & Owner Sudha that she will take care in person. We were 90 people with more than 25 kids. The food was served very hot and fresh. The way the requirements of our guests were taken care was just amazing. Our guests liked the food so much that they kept talking about it next day at office. We really felt very proud and Thank You Godavari for taking care of our needs. TO THE BIGGEST SURPRISE OF ALL, WE WERE NOT CHARGED FOR ALL THE FOOD THAT KIDS ATE AROUND $220. WE WERE TOLD ITS A GIFT FROM GODAVARI AND APPRECIATION TO THE FACT THAT WE ARE THEIR LOYAL CUSTOMERS SINCE IT BEGAN OPERATION. Thank You Godavari & Sudha. All The Best. GOD BLESS.
Excellent food. As for service, it can be much better. We have been planning to visit the place since months. We stay in Scarborough and due to distence we could not make it until yesterday. We are glad we visited. Have tasted authentic Andhra food after many years. Karam Podi has a authentic taste of Andhra. Punugulu, Green Chilli Dosa, Pesarattu, Pongali and finally Poornalu and Bobbattlu were awesome. Highly recommended, if you love Dosa's then you should try at Godavari as it is very different from other Dosa places in GTA as Godavari has an Andhra taste in it which is very unique. If Godavari can manage to get good servers and concentrate more on service then I am sure they are on there way becoming one of the best places for South Indian Food in GTA.
Food - 4 starsService - 3 starsMenu (depth) - 5 starsOverall - 4.5 starsThis is not your average run of the mill South Indian eatery/dosa joint. They focus on Andhra style cooking so might not be for everyone. The best Andhra food I tasted in Canada. Their chutneys are awesome, especially the ginger one. Ghee Karampodi Idli - the Idli was soft ad fluffy and they didn't skimp on ghee or podi. The sambar and chutneys were great too.Black-eyed peas vada - It was very unique, as you wouldn't usually find it in restaurants here in Canada, but the taste was just okay. Wish we would have tried something else as they had so many interesting choices.
