Many high-end supermarkets carry 'artisan' bread but they don't always have high-end bakers so the quality can be hit-and-miss. Cobs is a bakery with real bakers. I like the variety, I like the quality. Pricey but this place proves the cliche that you get what you pay for. We shop next door in Michael Angelo's regularly and stop in to Cobs for our bread. What User doesn't like about Cobs Bread:
Bread is bread here. You'll find things here which most supermarkets now carry as well like Metro, Longo's, Fortino's, etc. So in other words, not spectacular. Being a bakery it also does not smell like one. There is no seating and that's not a bad thing because how much bread can you really eat? Prices are no better or worse than your avg. supermarket. I can't imagine why I would want to revisit if I can get at leas... View all feedback.
We love their sourdough bread. If your a fan of sourdough then you'll love Cobs.
Now I consider myself a master connoisseur of butter tarts! Can't pass up on any offer just to discover a better recipe and so far Mohawk Casino is tops on my list. Cobs Bread is located at plaza development on the northeast corner of Hurontario Street and Eglinton Ave E. While venturing into this outlet today, I was drawn to the display featuring butter tarts. Besides weight, what do I have to lose? A box of 6 homemade tarts for $9.50 (no taxes) and the sale was a done deal. I decided to leave the purchase of the many delicious bread products for another trip. Service was friendly and prompt. But what about the tart? Well, I was hoping for about double the amount of pastry to go with the great tart filling but that's my personal preference. I was left wanting. Still, I give this tart a 4 out of 5.
Bread are fresh and good quality. Staffs are very friendly too. Definitely try if you haven?t been here.
The breads at this restaurant are heavy and undercooked. I ordered the cheese jalapeño bread and found it to be raw inside. The quality of the baking is average and the technique needs improvement. The breads are fresh but too dense and doughy. The texture of the bread leaves much to be desired. On the positive side, the service is excellent and the restaurant is clean.
The food here is delicious! I highly recommend this place. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I even received a free tote bag as part of a fall special. I will definitely be revisiting this restaurant.
