Came here for lunch today, and all four members of my family ordered the sashimi lunch special. The portions of sashimi were quite generous, with big cuts of salmon and tuna. My pieces had, on occasion, some fish tendons still so they were unbelievably chewy. One minor complaint as well was the fact that my miso soup was overly salty (there we lots of residue at the bottom of my bowl). Nevertheless, it was a nice mea... View all feedback.
Small place, reservations recommended. Fast service. Nice decor. Not all-you-can-eat, which is nice. Prices are slightly higher than average. Food is on par with most sushi places in the region. After finishing meal, asked if a dessert came with it. Was informed that complimentary after dinner item was no longer deep fried banana, in fact It is no longer available at Hinote. Now replaced with a hot beverage, cinnamon tea which was flavourful and good.
Delicious With Great Service!. I had come into this restaurant for a quick dinner as I was in a hurry. Upon walking into the restaurant, I noticed that it was quite dark (possibly opening up the blinds may make it more inviting). The restaurant was small however, it was quaint. I was greeted by one of the sushi chefs at the back of the restaurant. The waitress then greeted me with a smile. The restaurant only had two tables occupied therefore, I decided to settle on a seat at the sushi bar. I wasn't given a menu therefore, I had picked one up from a neighbouring table and chose my meal. The waitress seemed quite busy as after I had walked in, there were several other people who had walked in as well, and she seemed to be the only waitress. I settled on the California Roll, and waited about five minutes for it to be prepared.<br/ <br/ Upon receiving the California Roll, I was also given a cup of green tea. I asked if I could have water instead, and the waitress brought me a glass of water a few minutes later. The sushi itself was actually quite tasty; it had the perfect amount of rice, and it wasn't falling apart. It tasted fresh and it was quite filling for six pieces. I thought that the chopsticks were very interesting as they were not the wooden ones however, the heavier kind, which made it easier to pick up the sushi pieces. As I was eating, I noticed that the sushi chefs said hello to many people who came by to pay; I suppose they are regular customers however, I found the sushi chefs to be quite friendly compared to other sushi restaurants I've been to.<br/ <br/ Once I had finished my sushi, the waitress came over and asked if I would like a Deep Fried Banana. I asked if there was an extra charge and she said that it was on the house. I was very impressed as I had never been offered something on the house for just visiting a restaurant. It was brought out to me within a few minutes, and it tasted quite good! It was large, with just the perfect amount of coating around it; I really enjoyed it! I asked for my bill after I had finished the Deep Fried Banana, and it was brought to me quickly. In total, I had spent $6.72 for the California Roll. I thought it was a great price considering the service was top-notch, and I was given a free item! I am looking forward to returning to Hinote Sushi to try a variety of other food items. Well-done Hinote, looking forward to seeing you again soon!
I finally visited this place due to the high reviews. Not worth it, expensive and I won't be coming back. The rolls are large with tons of rice. The sushi and sashimi did not taste very fresh as as everyone else has mentioned, their service is terrible. I don't understand how this place has such a high rating.
The best sushi I've had (and I've been to 50+ sushi restaurants). Really good slices of fish, meaty, good flavour, melts like butter, and served in generous portions. Awesome sashimi, sushi, maki roll varieties. There are bento boxes and other rice and noodle dishes as well but the specialty maki rolls are so delicious we can't get enough. Over the past 10 years the prices have gone from dirt cheap to extravagant, and rightly so. It is worth the price! Nice decor, the staff create a nice environment and it's always clean. I believe they are really japanese people. With 4 booths, 4 sushi bar seats and 7 tables it's a bit limited so be prepared to wait or take out at busy times. You can call in your order for take out it's a very popular choice as there is constantly people walking in, pay and walk out with big trays of yummy sushi.
Sashimi is very fresh and the food is very good. A little bit on the pricier side. Small but very intimate setting. Note: it is not all you can eat.
