Ambiance is poor to non existing: unpleasant lights, blaring tv, very noisy dining area. The food was tasty but disapointing: the announced roasted kid was a roasted lamb, the posta was overdone and the meat was hard. Service was speedy and nice but not particularly friendly (they would not mince the meat for my elderly father, who was a hard time chewing)

The r... read more As another reviewer has stated, the posta mirandesa, which is a huge veal tenderloin cooked with some very tasty but not overpowering spices, is terrific. The restaurant was jam packed on a Saturday afternoon. We were definitely the only English speakers, but the huge majority were Spanish tourists. The food was very inexpensive, fresh, and tasty. Not a fancy place, but definitely good food at a good price.

This month we discover at Miranda do Douro a small villa, situated in the north of Portugal, by the border with Spain, and we found a magic restaurant! ,BALBINA... read more This month we discover at Miranda do Douro a small villa, situated in the north of Portugal, by the border with Spain, and we found a magic restaurant! ,BALBINA, and we can say it is one of the best restaurants in the north of Portugal. It takes a fantastic good relation between quality/price, and we tasted wonderful soups we have ever tasted, the bacalhau (codfish) with special bread, also fantastic fish, the very special Portuguese type of garlic sausage with coq and duck (called ALHEIRA), and of course the excellent piece of local certified beef. We do recommend it. Back in Lisbon we miss it alredy!!
