View all feedback.
Visited on a Saturday evening, although the restaurant is in a more rural area outside of Mios it's worth the short drive. The food is well presented and portions are generous. The adults all had the set 3 course menu and every dish was well received, while the children's meals were great value and the kids enjoyed them. The owner/ manager had a great rapport with the group and although she spoke little English was happy to converse with us regardless of our poor French speaking skills. Highly recommended.
A few years ago we ate here regularly, but over recent trips have given it a miss in favour of other establishments (having felt the menu had become a little tame and unvaried). Descended on them again last week for dinner and was instantly given a warm I remember you welcome back always a good way to start the evening! From that positive start things only got better. We discovered a thoroughly refreshed menu, the portions were very generous, food well cooked and beautifully presented on unique La Tonnelle plates. Real care had been put into everything that was served to us, which itself was done with humour and charm by the proprietress. And with the rate of exchange to sterling in our favour, cracking value too. We 'll definitely be returning without the hiatus next time.
What a delight we discovered in La Tonnelle! We 've travelled from east to west on this trip and in 2 weeks, this was by far the best dining experience we had! It 's what I consider the real, old France . If you are looking for a Proprietress full of warmth, humour and character to serve you great, traditional, French cuisine every course as delicious as the last simply but elegantly presented, while you enjoy the still Summer evening air on the terrace, then this is the place for you! Price? We had La formule du jour 3 courses, with 2 pichers of wine and coffee. Our daughter had the kids menu. The bill was an astonishing £40! I wish we had discovered the place sooner.
One Saturday lunch time we were hungry and it was after 13.oo so decided to stop at the next restaurant. We were very fortunate that it was La Tonnelle. Although very busy the proprietress welcomed us and explained what each of the dishes were in simple French. The food was excellent french regional cooking at a very good price prepared by the proprieter. We will definately be back
We were travelling down to Northern Spain for our annual holiday and had booked a one night stop at Camping Samba in Mios (see separate review). We asked for a recommendation to eat locally and their top tip was Le Tonneau. We drove past it the first time as it was so unassuming but, having stopped there, we discovered a little, unpretentious gem. The lady owner had loads of charisma, despite not having much English. When the starters arrived we couldn't believe how generous they were, as well as how nicely they were presented. My wife ate half of hers and saved the rest for lunch the following day! The main courses were equally delightful, and all served with a great deal of pride but at a very reasonable price. I would have no hesitation in recommending this restaurant to others.
