First visit. Food was excellent hreat tasting, stick to your ribs home cooking. Our server was very nice and knowledgeable, but the staff, as a whole, seemed a bit off kilter a little chaotic, at times. They weren 't very busy, but the servers were arguing about something,, which I see as quite unprofessional. But honestly, our visit was a good one, and the food will bring us back. What Peggy Caldwell doesn't like about Shonet's Country Cafe:
Was disappointed with the food. While I ordered simple brown beans, cornbread, and fried potatoes.... it was not cooked well. Beans were watery, potatoes were cold in the middle, yet black burnt on one side. Cornbread had a great flavor, yet hard. Rdered what was advertised as homemade purs, clearly frozen crust. This was my first visit, and the food was outstanding—delicious, hearty home-cooked meals. Our server was friendly and knowledgeable, but the overall atmosphere seemed a bit chaotic at times. Although they weren't particularly busy, I noticed some staff members arguing, which felt unprofessional. Despite that, we had a positive experience, and the food will definitely entice us to return. This charming little restaurant located in a small country town just off the interstate is the ideal "mom and pop" dining spot. It's definitely not your typical fast-food joint, but the food is fantastic, and the service is excellent! I had my first dining experience here yesterday with a friend, and I decided to try the turkey dinner, which came with a side of mashed potatoes, mac and cheese, and a hot roll. I don’t usually indulge in starchy foods, but I thought, “Why not?” The waitress was very friendly and frequently checked in to make sure we were enjoying our meals. When the food arrived, it was hot and delicious. The soft chatter of other diners didn't detract from the cozy atmosphere at all. The prices were reasonable compared to other local eateries and were about what I would pay for a less healthy option at a fast-food restaurant. I totally forgot to take pictures of the meal, but I’ll make sure to capture some next time I visit!
The service was prompt and attentive, and the chicken-fried steak along with the homemade pinto beans was absolutely delicious!
Great homecooked food, nice-sized portions at family prices. The Seniors love this place. One of our Favs. Staff is friendly, including server, Marie.
