Shaffer's Drive In - Milton

I make the 2.5-hour drive from Richmond, KY, to Milton, WV, twice a month just to enjoy their hotdogs. No joke! Being retired, we love discovering fantastic food spots. The people here are wonderful—the owners are fantastic, and the waitstaff is incredibly kind. I even left a $30 tip because the service was that exceptional. The burgers are delicious, and you can't find better ice cream anywhere. Thank you all so much! It really takes you back to the feel of a classic 60s diner with great service.

I had two loaded hot dogs, two grilled cheese sandwiches, a large fry, and a large pineapple upside-down milkshake, and everything was outstanding! The server, who was also the owner, came right to our car to take our order, and she wore her mask the whole time. She was super friendly. The prices were reasonable, and the food and service were excellent. I’ll definitely be returning!

This is a fantastic spot for a quick meal, whether you choose to eat in your car or at one of the picnic tables under the trees. The service is fast and friendly, and their hot dogs are simply the best! The sauce is hearty and flavorful. I've definitely found my new favorite place. Delicious hotdogs served in soft steamed buns that become slightly tender if left in the bag for a while. My personal favorite is the chili sauce, which is flavorful and packed with meat. However, the coleslaw was a bit dry for my taste. The cheese fries were fantastic—crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, made with crinkle-cut fries and topped with nacho cheese. I also enjoyed the nostalgic car-side service. This is a perfect spot to grab an affordable lunch on a lovely day.
