One of the best kept secrets for Nepali and fusion cuisine in Milpitas, CA. The ajwain garlic lentil soup is amazing, really good to open you up if you are a little under the weather. The fried rice and steamed momos are not to be missed. The hot sauce is a house special. Very prompt and friendly service. You would feel that you are in Nepal considering the ambience and decor. What Krithika M doesn't like about Kathmandu Cuisine:
I found this place to be overpriced. I ordered delivery through DoorDash. I got veg hakka noodles and veg manchow soup. The food was all right, however, I didn't find value for the money I paid. The 16oz soup was a whopping $14.40. Most places I've been to provide at least 32oz of soup pho as well) when it's light like this.Noodles tasted good but I didn't find the quality sufficient to match the price $16.80). I end... Kathmandu Cuisine serves both vegan and meat options. Of course I went the plant-based route with her Aalu Sadeko potatoes) $10) and the Aalu Bodi Tama $12) that made a stuffed curry with black eyebrows, potatoes and bamboo shoots. The potatoes were hot. Loved the flavors, but didn't know how much of a kick it would have lol. Certainly, rice or bread need to cool down or ask for less spices if your tolerance is not high. My physical tama was also very tangy with a kick, and went well with my side of Roti. I noticed that all meat options first came out and it took more time for me to get my veggie options so my friends decided to wait until my came before eating. While the food was quite good, I wish that more of the vegetarian options would be vegan friendly, or that they would be able to see what items were naturally vegan. Even with their extensive vegetarian menu, I had to look for some dishes online at the end to check and see if they fit my diet. Unfortunately, their veggie momos are not vegan friendly, but their impossible meats were. I didn't want to spend the $6 on it, but that's how I had to tip tonight. The service was decent at night when we left. Although it wasn't super packed, it seemed like they were understaffed as it took us a while to get menus and then order. During the meal we were not very often checked and always needed water to help with the spice level of food. I know the staff worked very hard, but I think a bit more attention would be great.
The momos are fantastic, but the food is a little expensive and the portion sizes are not very big.
Kathmandu Cuisine offers a variety of vegan and meat options. I chose the plant-based route and tried the Aalu Sadeko (potatoes) for $10 and the Aalu Bodi Tama for $12, a stewed curry made with black eyed peas, potatoes, and bamboo shoots. The potatoes were quite spicy, but I enjoyed the flavors, although I was surprised by the level of heat. I recommend having rice or bread to cool down, or asking for less spice if you have a lower tolerance. The Aalu Bodi Tama was tangy with a kick and paired well with my side of roti. However, there was a delay in receiving my vegetarian options compared to the meat dishes, causing my friends to wait before eating. It would have been helpful if the menu clearly indicated which items were naturally vegan. I had to research online to ensure certain dishes fit my diet. Unfortunately, the veggie momos were not vegan-friendly, but the impossible meat ones were available at an additional cost. The service was okay during our visit, but it seemed like the restaurant may have been understaffed as it took longer than expected to get menus and place our orders. Throughout the meal, we had to repeatedly ask for water to help with the spice level. Overall, while the food was good, more attention from the staff would enhance the dining experience.
Great vibe. Truly feels home. Come here for unique momos and tasty food overall.
