This restaurant offers some pretty good Malay cuisine. I found the salt and pepper tofu to be quite flavorful, which is impressive since I'm not usually a fan of tofu. View all feedback.

Came here after the airport and the food was absolutely delicious, this is now my favorite restaurant in the area! The staff are very friendly as well. The Char kway teow and prawn mee were amazing and I also really enjoyed the eggplant balachan. I can’twait to come back again in the future.

I visited this restaurant after arriving from the airport, and I must say, the food was absolutely delicious! It's now my favorite spot in the area. The staff were incredibly friendly as well. The Char Kway Teow and Prawn Mee were outstanding, and I particularly enjoyed the Eggplant Balachan. I can't wait to return in the future!

We ordered roti canai, okra belacan, mango shrimp, coconut fried rice, and soybean milk with grass jelly. The roti canai was fantastic, with a crisp exterior and a chewy interior. The curry sauce that accompanied it was full of flavor and had a nice kick to it. The okra belacan featured perfectly crunchy okra—neither soggy nor undercooked—but I found the belacan sauce a bit lacking. The mango shrimp was a highlight! It had a wonderfully crispy coating while the shrimp was cooked to perfection. Even my husband, who generally doesn’t enjoy shrimp, couldn’t resist it. The coconut fried rice was tasty, though the chicken pieces didn’t seem entirely fresh. The soybean milk with grass jelly was refreshing, but I wished there was less ice, as it diluted the flavor somewhat. Overall, we had a delightful authentic Malaysian meal and will definitely return when we’re in the area.

This restaurant offers delicious comfort food in generous portions. The calamari fries are fantastic. I also tried the tom yum soup (rated 7/10) and the seafood noodles (also rated 7/10), but I'm not really a fan of soups. However, I would definitely give the fried foods, noodles, and rice a perfect 10/10!

I ate at this restaurant a few times in the past, and the dishes I had were generally decent although on the salty side. This time I had Pad Thai and was very disappointed. The Pad Thai was so bland that I just ate it to fill my stomach but didn’t enjoy any bite of it. Food: 2

There's some seriously good food here. Unassuming from the outside, but maybe that adds to the charm. We went on a Saturday for dinner, and we were surprised to see the restaurant filling up. Prices are reasonable, and this was probably the best laksa I've had in the Bay Area. Service was friendly, too!

Surprisingly found authentic Malaysian food in San Mateo! The food and services are great. Love the Roti, Mango shrimp ? and Nasi Lemak. Memories of days in Malaysia came back to us. (Used to live in Malaysia)

I was delighted to discover Ipoh right in our own backyard. I've driven by Ipoh for years, but never thought to check it out. The exterior of the restaurant looks pretty dilapidated. I wasn't even sure if the restaurant was open. However, we finally went to check it out and what a pleasant surprise! The food was solid flavorful, well prepared, and well presented. The roti canai was one of the best I've had anywhere in California. The pineapple fried rice was solid and the chicken lemak was wonderfully spicy and savory. The service was friendly too.The inside decor is comfy though a bit worn down. We will definitely be coming back!

I used to think the Char Koay Teow was the most legit in Bay Area ! However, somehow, since Covid, it's been disappointing to me for a few times now. The prawn noodles looks so sad and tastes so bland : I actually think that any sauce pack soup could make more flavorful prawn noodles. However, today, I tried their Curry Laksa which in the past, I found too rich and creamy. I actually liked it today. Overall, I prefer Banana Island in Daly City but this place is ok la...boleh la...

I would give 3.6 and might try another time. I like chicken a lot it wasn't with much bone easily to have it. The soup was with lots of ingredients. Although veggies were a little bit oily but still ok for me. Satay chicken really delicious.

IPOH is my top choice for Malaysian cuisine in the Bay Area. The dried curry lamb is simply incredible, and the rest of the menu is just as delightful. The portion sizes are generous, and the food is neither greasy nor overly salty; it’s filled with fresh, flavorful vegetables. Whenever I'm in the mood for Asian food but want something lighter, this is my favorite place to go. Every dish we've tried has been bursting with flavor, and I can't wait to discover more dishes in the future.

Wow, just wow! The exterior might not be impressive, but you absolutely need to step inside! The interiors are charming, featuring a lovely picture of a bicycle, if I remember correctly.
