I absolutely loved this food! It's a fantastic classic BBQ spot with an extensive selection of meats and Southern sides. We originally planned to go to Dinosaur BBQ in Stamford, but we were so hungry that we decided to stop here instead, and I'm really glad we did. We ordered the BBQ Feast for 4 and the half chicken platter for our group of five, and let me tell you, it was more than enough for all of us! View all feedback.
What Food E doesn't like about Joey C's Roadhouse:
Ok. Obligatory statement that I dont usually write reviews bc I'm not a whiny B. That being said, that was probably the worst bbq I have ever had. The sauce tastes water based, it literally has no flavor and is runny!! How?! The greens are like if you made sautéed spinach with garlic. There's no vinegar or meaty flavor. The beans... how do you mess up beans? It's literally flavorless undercooked beans with pieces of... View all feedback.

I've dined here several times for dinner, and I've consistently found the food to be quite good. While the service was hit or miss on a few occasions, it has improved recently. The BBQ I've tried here has been impressive, and the burgers are exceptional—definitely my favorite dish on the menu. They're cooked to order, well-portioned, and very flavorful. Parking typically isn't an issue, and the location is convenient. Unfortunately, I believe they may be closing or relocating soon.
I was heading back to the ferry from a project in Connecticut when I realized I had a choice of putting the pedal to the meta and hoping to make the 12:15 ferry to Port Jeff, or stop for lunch and take the 1:45. I opted for the latter. So I 've been on a BBQ kick for a while, but Joey C 's has cured me for a while. I got there about 12 and found plenty of parking. Walked in and found a table right away. So far so good right. Well I ordered a BBQ BRISKET platter which came with two sides. Unfortunately they were out of my first picks so I had to settle. On the table is a bucket with knives and forks. Just pick out what you want. Hmmmm OK. Roll of paper towels hanging off the side of the table. Again OK. Food comes out and to start the sides I settled for are like warm. I 'm funny like that, I like my food hot, not scolding, just hot. Next I have a plate of BBQ Brisket which is also Luke warm. If did u mention that I like my food hot? To boot the brisket is floating in watery BBQ sauce. Didn 't really feel like BBQ. The restaurant is filled with customers now and everyone is saying how good it is. It it me or a Connecticut thing? Now I 'm ready to leave and have a leisurely drive to the ferry. Next problem, now the parking lot is full and just trying to maneuver and get out is a task. Maybe good BBQ for Connecticut but sorry not for me. Seems like I 've been in Connecticut a lot lately and I know there are many other choices. I 'll be trying them but putting BBQ on hold for awhile.
Stopped in for a quick bite, around 8:30 PM. It's a typical tavern type of environment, which I kind of like while I'm out on the road. Sat at the bar, good service. The downside, the steak tacos were completely void of flavor. I might go back and try something else, but certainly will not be at the top of my list when I'm in the area.
We just spent a weekend in Milford, CT with a group of 30 friends from a professional organization we belong to. Friday night, not everyone had arrived yet, so about 15 of us had to figure out what to do for dinner. I checked the trusty Yelp app and came up with Joey C 's Roadhouse BBQ and Tex-Mex as a possibility. Everyone said sounds great so we called for reservations, piled into 4 or 5 cars, and walked in for what turned out to be a very enjoyable meal and experience. We were introduced to Lisette -our very personable server who took our drink orders and was the model of friendly efficiency as she worked her way down the long table to take all those food orders. She was wearing a Nice Rack uniform t-shirt. As you can imagine, the menu offers dozens of barbecue and Mexican dishes. Our group went deep into the menu and sampled appetizers, sides, entrees, and sandwiches, from just about every category listed. I loved the Da Bomb Stuffed Jalapenos $8.99) a great dish of halved jalapenos stuffed Italian style with with garlic, prosciutto, provolone cheese, and spices. They carried a lot of zip but were tame enough for the heat amateurs at our table. I ordered a Smoked Turkey Sandwich 8.99) on a wrap $0.50 upcharge. It was accurately described on the menu as Juicy, lightly smoked turkey breast seasoned with our special Joey 's spice rub . The wrap served with sliced avocado, lettuce, tomato, and cilantro sauce. I asked for some of their spicy chipotle barbecue sauce to zip things up. I added a side of Mexican Rice $2.99) that had great flavor and was very good. I looked around at my table-mates choices and saw quesadillas, some great looking roasted corn, mac and cheese, pulled pork, and collard greens. Later that night everyone in our group told me how much they enjoyed dinner and how good their meal was.
