We love visiting basic batch at least once a month to grab a cin roll or try the monthly specials. January is Tiramisu and it was the best donut I’ve ever had. View all feedback.
My family really enjoys visiting donut shops, so we were thrilled to hear about a new one opening up nearby! Our favorite donut shop so far has been Allies Donuts in North Kingstown, RI. They offer classic favorites like maple frosted, cream filled, and jelly donuts. I woke up early this morning and arrived at the shop right at 7 o'clock. I was greeted by friendly staff and was impressed by the array of donuts on display. I purchased a dozen donuts for a total of $41 and brought them home to surprise my family. However, we were disappointed overall. The maple bacon donut, which is one of my favorites, was too thick and lacked flavor. My son's favorite, the old reliable chocolate dipped donut, was only partially eaten before he tossed the rest. My daughter enjoyed the Boston cream donut, which was supposed to be a "special" item, but even she found it lacking compared to Allies Donuts. Perhaps our expectations were too high because we love Allies Donuts so much, but unfortunately Basic Batch did not meet our standards. A dozen donuts at Allies cost us around $16, although we haven't been there since the summer so I'm not sure if prices have changed. I appreciated the owners sharing their story of how they started the shop and wished them success, but I would highly recommend that they visit Allies to see what makes their donuts so delicious.
We stopped by to pick up a dozen donuts as a thank you gift and we were extremely impressed! These handcrafted donuts come in monthly and seasonal flavors and they tend to sell out quickly, so make sure to arrive early. We tried a variety of flavors such as Chocolate Glazed with Sprinkles, Honey Glazed, Maple Bacon, Watermelon Jolly Rancher, Cherry Pie, and Fruity Pebbles. We highly recommend this place as the donuts were incredibly soft and delicious, each with its own unique flavor. We will definitely be arriving even earlier next time to try their Mocha Cold Brew Donut.
This restaurant is the real deal. It competes with the best donut shops in the Boston area, like Kane's Black Bird in Union Square. It can even hold its own against the famous Voodoo Donuts in Oregon. I tried the cream brûlée donut, which had a crispy exterior and a soft, creamy interior that wasn't too sweet. My wife had the blueberry cake donut and loved it. I would gladly make the hour-long drive to this place again, and I recommend others do the same from wherever they are located!
One of the best donuts I have found in New England. It’s an event in the house when we go grab some. They keep everyone up to date on social media about sellouts etc. I’m glad to have a local business that produces an amazing product and treats employees right! Now go get some donuts!
This place is awesome. Not the cheapest donut you can find but worthy of the splurge. Possibly the best glazed donut I’ve ever had. And their social media is so well organized and clearly communicates when they are closed or run out of donuts! Follow them!
