We read other reviews and then gave this place a try — for a coffee and some pastries. Everything we tried was sweet and flavorful, but in a subtle way. It was more of a takeout kind of place, with a couple of tables set up outside. Prices were reasonable and the service was kind (about our English).

We stayed in Milan for 2 nights in August 22. This was just around the corner and we visited both mornings for breakfast. The cappuccino was fabulous and we tried a number of the pastries. This is a must try. This is a place that all the locals visit to buy pastries/breads etc.

Panarello, is an old coffee house and traditional pastry shop in Milan, with history dating back to 1885, found in no less than 6 locations, which opens early in the morning and stays open till late evening. The one in Corso di Porta Romana is my favorite one, as it stands in the middle of a rural area and from its few tables and benches that overlook the commercial street I can spot people and trams passing by. It is ideal for a morning caffeine shot and so it’s always crowed as their coffee is tasty and very cheap, service is incredibly quick and there’s a big variety of small or bigger sweets to accompany your cup pf coffee, like locals do. For one of their signature tastes choose a Cannoncino or a Panarellina, both tasty and always fresh. There’s also the option of taking a package of freshly baked goodies with you, or chose from a range of packaged biscuits and typical Milanese cakes. Another, smaller shop is located close to Duomo, just off Via Torino -one of the busiest commercial streets- and therefore it’s ideal for a quick stop and a break from sightseeing or shopping. In both spots you’ll find pictures and items from past ages, a sign that Panarello’s history is more than a century long. Read more reviews in my travel blog ariettastraveltips.com link in bio .

A pastry shop famous for its cannoncini and fruit tart, it's located on Corso di Porta Romana in Milan, a place that's always crowded. The pastries are not only delicious, but also incredibly fresh.

There's no arguing about the quality. The cannoli are delicious. But the service...let's forget it! Courtesy is nonexistent. Better to close on holidays than to make customers feel out of place. What a shame!
