What Federicopolese doesn't like about Hostaria Borromei:
The restaurant itself is very traditional milanese, low key but elegant. I had both lunch and dinner in 2/3 occasion and every time a made the same comment: food is really average if not below. Nothing terrible or scandalous, just not that good and prepared with some sloppiness. View all feedback.
I booked a Friday night solo trip. I got one of those tables that the servers have to squeeze by. But I certainly understand: the place is popular with the local Milanesi. The food is the reason why. I had busiati and beef cheeks both excellent. I could see the cameriere carving some prosciutto for the table, wish I'd had that. I'd go back.
This little place is attractive on a little winding street. The food was all right, but there was not a lot on the menu. They had a wine list, but no wine by the glass listed. They did have it, though, but didn't tell us the price when we ordered. The waitstaff was quite unfriendly and acted as if they didn't care. they spent most of their time chatting with their friends who were dining there. I would not choose to return.
Good location, excellent service and very pleasant ambience., Very good seafood. So good w ate there three nights running
OMG better than brilliant. This is a popular restaurant in Milan. The deep fried flowers, the Risotto and everything we ate. From this world!!!!
