We had a reservation, got the table but the waiter refused to take our order for reasons best known to him. He served guests who came much after us. When we spoke to the manager, she simply shrugged. We walked out after wasting half an hour. Not a place to visit.

We arrived at lunchtime w... read more My partner and I came here as we wanted to enjoy a negroni sbagliato in the bar it was born we ended up having a wonderful experience. We arrived at lunchtime when there were only a handful of other patrons all local, all enjoying a quick afternoon at Basso. If you're in any way a part of bar culture, getting served a negroni sbagliato in the iconic chalice is an essential experience just a wonderfully simple drink served in an utterly unique way. We ended up having a couple of small plates that were delicious, and spent an hour enjoying the décor heritage of such a long standing institution. This is a venue with a long rich history, much of which hasn't changed in decades be respectful and courteous, and enjoy the experience of visiting a venue that drips with authenticity and history.

But I felt compelled to bring it... read more For one thing, this restaurant is already in the bottom 5% of Milanese restaurants so my 1 star review won’t matter that much. But I felt compelled to bring it down further because it probably deserves to be in the bottom 1%. Not that it matters lots of folks still packed this bar regardless of how low this place can go on TripAdvisor. When we sat down, the waiter just ignored us. When we ordered, he was short and impatient. He flung the aperitivo and our bill on the table even when we weren’t finished ordering. We had a very poor selection of aperitivos and we didn’t get olives when the other tables did. When we ordered something else, he rolled his eyes and clicked his tongue. If I could give this place 1 stars on TripAdvisor, I would. We walked for an hour to get to this place. There are thousands of other places in Milan you can go to. Don’t waste your time here.
