I grew up with this place, so I guess I am biased, but give midvale mining co. a try! portions are a bit big, but for an breakfast with friends who like to eat classic American comfort, they cannot go wrong. I recommend the south of the border with roasted hash browns to the breakfast, it is a knockout!
From the city dwellers, skip! I like to try local places when I'm on my way instead of getting chains at home. I ordered a western omelette, better known as a Denver omelet. it came generic power singles on the top as the cheese it was so wye and runny inside I couldn't get it down and I expect the half of food poisoning later tonight. the toast was both rocky and mushy. I couldn't even put jam on it because it's just broken. the hathbrowns were absolutely tasteless and were a temp and texture that suggested that they were unfinished from another customer that I expressed to the waitress that I was not satisfied my meal and she knew it away from me without asking...more
Big portions. It's like homecoming x 2, their portions are so huge that you can eat your left overs as another meal. I like their prime rib Fridays and my son likes the Long Bean (French dip). It's always busy and their parking lot is always full, that tells you something. They have a big menu so I'm sure you will find something you like.
CAVE-IN !!!. Went for dinner at 4 PM. They don't serve dinner until 5. Ordered a Rueben and fish and chips off the lunch options. The Rueben tasted like it had been prepared for lunch and reheated in the microwave...you know, hotter inside than the outside. Not good. The fries were fresh and well prepared. My wife's fish was an experience. Two pieces were very good, and the third tasted funny The meat was a completely different color and tasted off. The scones and honey butter were the best we have ever had. BOTTOM LINE...a good stop for some coffee and the wonderful scones.
The Midvale Mining Co. restaurant offers a variety of menu options with some mixed reviews. Some customers found the menu limited and the food underwhelming, with complaints about taste and service. Others enjoyed the comfort food offerings, generous portions, and friendly atmosphere with unique mining memorabilia. The scones are consistently highlighted as a standout item. The restaurant has a nostalgic vibe that adds to the experience, making it a good stop for those looking for classic American comfort food at a decent price. The breakfast items, in particular, receive positive reviews for taste and portion size. Overall, the Midvale Mining Co. is a popular spot for locals and visitors alike, despite some inconsistencies in food and service quality.

We have come here for years and love it absolutely! My favorite is the golden nuggets or all that Omelet. Scones should die! I ordered 10 Scones to use them for Navajo Tacos. The staff is great and attentive. I am a little sad that the no longer serve creamer and now only half and half, but the food is worth it!
Great place to eat. Clean, good service and good food. I'd give him 5 stars, but the pancakes were just fine. I'd be in Salt Lake City next time.
It's been a long time since we ate here last. Had the corn beef plate for breakfast. Oh, man! The best I ever had. Delicious as we always remember. Love her salmon. Thank you.
This place is exactly what you would expect to sit with a miner coal car outside the entrance... The food is good and hot and they get your egg order right. There is nothing imagination on the menu, but good old-fashioned breakfast is my favorite. Although my wife is on a No Carb and not a sugar diet that works well, but the challenge was hard to meet... We had another great time in a friendly little cafe right in front of the highway..........
Was my first time here and heard good things from my husband so was excited to try. However, the menu seemed pretty limited as far as menu items. All the pasta choices only had 1 sauce, marinara. Most dinners are just basic meat and potato items and sandwiches. The potatoes were very bland and the corn was mushy. The steak tasted burnt. We waited a VERY long time for our food to come out plus our food was sitting on the counter for about 10 minutes before our waitress brought it out. Not only that but 2 of the food items were wrong. I will not be coming here again.
