Guests rave about the atmospheric candlelight and imaginative decor, reminiscent of its storied past. While certain dishes soar in flavor, others miss the mark, leaving some diners wishing for more robust options and larger portions. Despite inconsistent service, many praise the attentive staff and accommodating chef. Highlights include the velvety tomato soup and artistic presentations. For those seeking a distinctive culinary journey amid medieval charm, The Dungeon remains a captivating destination worth exploring.
We had a great time dining at The Dungeon. The chef was very accommodating to our dietary restrictions and our meals were fantastic! The entire experience, from enjoying drinks and appetizers in the drawing room to dessert, was delightful. The appetizers were visually appealing and delicious, our main dishes were filling, and the desserts were fun and engaging. The atmosphere at The Dungeon was wonderful and the service was attentive.
The food at this restaurant is delicious, but the menu is limited. The restaurant itself is fantastic, but the service from the staff leaves something to be desired. This lack of attentiveness was consistent throughout the hotel during our three-day stay. There was no social interaction, no smiles, no acknowledgement of our presence, and no offer to bring us a drink. It felt as though we were invisible.
The food itself was good, but it was over-priced for the portions you receive. I also didn't like that the menu was very limited. I understand COVID and it's issues, but you weren't able to change out any sides. I ended up leaving hungry still and went to our room and snacked on crackers I had packed. The food was displayed very nicely though, so there's that.
A totally different place to eat. In the dungeon with suits of armour looking down at you. Most tables seemed to be for couples with some for four persons. The food looked and tasted great
We were asked to arrive to the bar 30 minutes before dining. We were left just to sit there and unnecessarily order drinks and select our food before waiting about 45 minutes to be taken down to the restaurant. Unfortunately both the entree and main were extremely bad, especially for the high price. I do not mind paying money for good food, but my main tasted like a Tescos pre-made three bean salad with lamb (that had no flavour). The flavours were not balanced at all, all bitter elements. We then had an underwhelming and inedible cheese course and asked to cancel our desserts as we did not want any further disappointments for the evening.
