Feedback
Opals restaurant seems to have a mixed reputation, with some guests reporting experiences that were less than ideal. Some guests were disappointed by the service, long wait times, and high prices for mediocre food quality. However, others had wonderful experiences, praising the delicious food, excellent service, and overall ambiance of the restaurant. Opals seems to be a hit or miss, with some patrons vowing never to return while others claim it is their favorite dining spot in the area. The restaurant is best known for its coffee-rubbed pork chop and hand-made drinks.
Now. we would not return, listen to the reasons:.1) we had high expectations and we knew that our bill would be high, first we got accepted by an rude waiter that we sneak in. we had a reservation and we sat by the host, he could have checked with his host in advance and not make us feel unwilling.2) then our food comes in. 40 minutes later to find out that my steak was overcooked and an order was grounded, salmon and vegetables were dry, we recommend the pour and garnel that were excellent cocktails too. too expensive at the end for mediocre eating. we had great business in our party so our experience was not bad overall.
A Nice Bottle of Wine...Excellent ! The Brussels Sprouts are AMAZING !! Hubby and I love to go there...the food is Fantastic ! 5 Stars from me !
This is definitely where my wife and I will spend everyone of our date nights at. If your going on a date in midland and don't want bad service, this place has great service and out of this world food.
I really wanted to love this place. The vibe is so cool but at the end of the day it 's a bar so let 's talk drinks. We were already a couple of drinks in when one of us ordered whiskey neat. The bartender, a different one than had been serving us, saysall of our liquor comes as a double pour that 's our policy is that ok? This was the first time we learned that our previousdrinks were twice as expensive as we thought.... the drink comes and wow that 's a skimpy pour. Friend mentions it and anotherbartender explains that they do things different and their shot is 1.25 oz so a double is 2.5 oz so you 're getting about .5 ozless than you pay for with a double. I wouldn 't normally be one to split hairs but hey when you 're paying $20/shot it would benice to get what you pay for. I had been drinking Brut with dinner upstairs and tried to continue downstairs but the bartenderbrought me a very small pour and said that they were almost out of Brut that i was drinking, that was the last of the bottle butshe 'd bring me more of another kind she just didn 't want to mix the two. It tasted very sweet compared to what I 'd beendrinking so I asked another bartender if I 'd been accidentally poured prosecco. He asked the bartender that poured it and shesaid no it was Brut but he found the bottle and it was indeed prosecco. Like I said I really wanted to love this place... I haveno problem with paying premium prices but I do appreciate getting what you pay for. Staff definitely needs training on the winelist to understand that just because they are in the same category ie bubbly doesn 't mean they are the same and that they shouldbe attentive to serve a customer what they order or offer alternatives instead of just making a substitution. Short shots forthe price and not letting customers know you 're going to charge them for a double (that 's not) is also crummy business. Thisplace has great potential to be a fabulous high end bar but quit trying to cut corners to increase prof
Little experience with parking while there was an event going on outside, but the atmosphere was awesome. There's a vintage feel and nice old fashioned style to the building, and a cool control panel that shows how the building was monitored andcontrolled. Food was a little pricy, but it's upscale and well maintained so it's worth it. Drinks were not skimpy on thealcohol and generous and they can even make you an Arnold Palmer! Fish with the caper dill is phenomenal! Classy, friendly, andattentive service. A must if you want a nice event or just getting together.
