Great Lakes Ice Cream Co. - Midland

This is without question the best ice cream in our region, and perhaps Michigan. The flavors are rich full. The ice cream is creamy not icy. The milkshakes are incredible too.

Both interesting and fast. Many nice fancy and simple flavors, creatively named. Free tastes, and ready-lacked quarts to go. A local operation. Be sure to at least try Pawberry, which has pawpaws in it filled out with strawberry.

Service here is friendly and quick, despite how busy it gets in the summer months. The price and portion size is very generous. There are also unique flavor choices available, including saffron ice cream and goat cheese ice cream. Definitely recommend the Soo Lock Swirl and Pictured Rocks flavors.

Great selection of flavors. Staff super helpful. Open late. Favorite was Sol Locks Swirl (cookie butter, ribbons of caramel and Biscoff cookies).

The price and portion may be a little less than you are used to getting at an ice cream place. However, this place actually serves high quality homemade ice cream rather than selling you wholesale ice cream. You'd be hard pressed to find something as good elsewhere in the area and this is by far my favorite ice cream from the mid-michigan area! Sure, you are paying more for less but why go to an ice cream shop and get scooped wholesale ice cream (Cottage Creamery) when you could spend a little more for in-house homemade ice cream? Service is quick and the place has a nice vibe. Sometimes gets a little crowded but the wait is worth it.
