Boars Head - Cheshire East
Boars Head
Description
Nestled in Middlewich, The Boar's Head shines as a charming Victorian pub and inn, offering cozy rooms and a delightful breakfast. Guests appreciate the characterful decor and spacious accommodations, often noting the delicious Sunday roast and affordable drinks. While many describe the service as friendly, some encounters revealed lapses in communication and efficiency, particularly during busy times. Breakfast experiences were notably inconsistent, with reports of slow service and insufficient staff. Despite some noise disturbances and minor cleanliness issues, patrons are drawn back by the warm atmosphere, making it a promising destination for those exploring the area.

The Boar's Head is a lovely old Victorian pub, with loads of character. Our room had been freshly decorated and was clean. At check-in, we were shown to our room but not given any other information about how to get back into the building when returning late at night or what time breakfast would be served. When we returned from our social event that night, the building was locked. We could hear voices and music from inside, but despite ringing two doorbells and banging on the door, we could not get in. In the end, my partner climbed in through a ground floor open window, and the staff member in duty came to open the door. The same staff member was having a lock-in with friends. Unfortunately, our room was above the pool room and it was very noisy. At 3am, I went down to the pool room and pointed out that we were trying to sleep. I tried to be accommodating and said to the staff member that if he wasn't going to curtail his partying, we'd move to another room. I was pretty gobsmacked when he went to check whether there was a room we could move to! There wasn't another room so we had to put up with the noise until the partygoers ran out of steam. Breakfast was good, though!
For value for money this is a brilliant hotel. So pleased with the experience. The room was a good size with en suite that had a nice shower. They included shower gel etc and towels, which was fantastic. They even include a complementary breakfast, which is a nice bonus. Location was good for us. The on site car park was very small and always full whilst here, but there is a free car park minutes away that was absolutely fine. All in all for the price paid a brilliant stay.
Came to stay here with my partner for 2 nights, the evening food was lovely and the breakfast was great quality, the weather was so hot and we was really worried about being too hot but in our room a fan was provided which we were super pleased with. Highly recommend
The Guinness was priced at £4.80 and was enjoyable. The ribeye steak was delicious, with chunky chips that were nice and in a good portion, though they could have been crispier. The mini spring roll starter was very tasty and spicy. Definitely worth a visit.
