What Anonym dislikes about The Start:

After swearing not to eat here again I ended up doing so the other day as my university friends insisted the food was nice. I should have trusted my gut after the last time I was there and received a bland dry veggie burger with...no salad or sauce. They ordered a full English and the bacon was undercooked, they said their sausages were poor quality and the ‘toast’ was basically warm bread. One friend ordered a cappu... View all feedback.

After swearing not to eat here again I ended up doing so the other day as my university friends insisted the food was nice. I should have trusted my gut after the last time I was there and received a bland dry veggie burger with no salad or sauce. They ordered a full English and the bacon was undercooked, they said their sausages were poor quality and the ‘toast’ was basically warm bread. One friend ordered a cappuccino which was lumpy and undrinkable. I ordered a tuna panini which was actually a disgusting tuna baguette which the baguette was soggy and warm not even crispy and it was covered in a thick layer of cheap minging cheese. The only good side was my pint was a good pour. Safe to say I’m 100% not wasting my money they on food again and I doubt my friends will either

30 foreigners without a drink between them and had to go elsewhere to watch the footy. 4 of us who like a beer cannot spend our own money here..

Went for Sunday lunch and was really disappointed. As this use to be a regular place I used to visit every Sunday and it was really nice then. Beef was really chewy none if use ate it apart from my cats! Peas where rock hard, really not nice again none of us ate them either, Mash was lumpy and tasteless. And when I ordered a coffee it was like dishwater. Cabbage was lovely. sorry for giving bad review but I needs to be stepped up for it to continue to maintain customers. No visible baby changing area either. Toilets are bit minging too. I will not be returning nor will my friends.

I was desperate for the loo and I went in and a rude member of staff stopped me and asked me to buy some thing but he was nasty and Judy towards me and made me feel like a criminal I wouldn't mind paying but their not even good toilets and I had to buy £1:20 Crisp witch is quite expensive for crisp especially when you aren't wanting them not only that the dryer in the toilets would take years to actually dry your hands I never wanted to complain but it's been a few times mostly later on that people treat and act different in their.

The Star, located on the university campus, offers a vibrant and budget-friendly dining experience for students. Known for its delicious parmos and fantastic fries, this basic British pub serves hearty meals and has a lively atmosphere for disco nights. While the menu includes classic pub fare like Sunday roasts, the standout item is their garlic sauce. Open Monday to Sunday with generous portions and good drink options, The Star is a popular choice among students and locals alike. Despite some cleanliness issues, the quality of food and service make it a must-try spot for an enjoyable meal.

The dining experience at this restaurant is top-notch. It is hard to find a Chinese restaurant that can rival it.

Had Sunday dinner here, food was good but very busy and struggled to get a table. Dinner was carvery style with a choice of four meats and a selection of vegetables and as many roasties as you want just a shame no parsnips!

The food is delicious and the service is excellent!

Located directly on the university campus, The Star is a popular choice for students looking for a quick bite or a budget-friendly night out. I used to come here with friends when I was a student and I remember the lively and friendly atmosphere at night. Dress up for a disco night and you're in for a good time. During the day, there is a wide selection of food and drinks available. The menu includes wraps, burgers, loaded potatoes, and other pub classics like Sunday roasts, not to mention the local favorite, parmo. I recently tried the Mexican burger and fries, but the one thing I highly recommend trying are their parmos. The Star serves delicious parmos, fantastic fries, and their garlic sauce is absolutely divine. I'm not quite sure what they do to make it so good, but it's hands down my favorite garlic sauce of all time. The Star is open Monday to Thursday from 9am to 7:30pm, Friday 9am to 5pm, Saturday 10am to 5pm, and Sunday from 12pm. Give it a try, seriously - especially the garlic sauce!

The place is a basic Brittish pub with beer and pub food. It's located in the university grounds so I expect it to be packed with students when the semester is on. Servings are big and hearty. You order and pay at the bar so no unnecessary waiting for the bill. Very casual.
