Leo's - Middlebury
Leo's
Description
Leos has a history of delighting patrons with its breakfast offerings, consistently praised for attentive service and delicious dishes. While many enjoy classic meals like Belgian waffles and poached eggs, recent experiences have raised concerns about food quality and inconsistency. Some diners reported issues ranging from spoiled items leading to severe health concerns to a lack of understanding from staff during busy times. Despite these setbacks, a loyal customer base still appreciates the warm atmosphere and variety, urging newcomers to explore the menu. However, recent changes—like a less desirable biscuit recipe—have left some longstanding fans yearning for the original charm.

When I brought my two children to Rita's Italian Ice and needed a moment to eat, we were asked to leave the tables outside Leos even though there was no one else there. All the tables were empty and it was just the three of us. I would have cleaned up after ourselves, so it was confusing why we were asked to leave. It felt like there was a conflict between Rita's and Leos, and the customers were caught in the middle. It would have been nice to be shown some understanding in this situation.
I adore this restaurant for breakfast! The menu and food are amazing. One downside lately has been the change in the biscuits. They used to be your classic type with a crispy outside and soft inside, but now they are more like batter (almost tasting like pancake batter) with an overpowering artificial vanilla flavor that is quite unpleasant. I wish they hadn't changed it.
I used to frequent this restaurant often and always enjoyed the food. However, during our last visit, we were served spoiled food which resulted in food poisoning. I suffered the most from it and we almost had to go to the hospital. I would advise against getting too comfortable with this place, as our opinion of it drastically changed after our recent experience. It was once a solid 5-star establishment in our eyes, but not anymore.
