You order your food in the front, pick up your drink, take a seat and wait until your name calls out. Then enjoy a delicious treat. We had the Indonesian cow stew and the Kentucky chicken with a glass of wine. All were served in biodegradable packaging, no plates. Even the cutlery was biodegradable. The flavors were bursting and bursting. Our dishes were under 10 euros, a real bargain. We have definitely loved the experience and will be back when we visit Middelburg again.
Yesterday Nicky and I went on a road trip to the south coast of the Netherlands to make some tourists in our own country. In the province of Zeeland there are the Delta works. As you may know or not, the Netherlands is up and even below sea level. The Delta Works' system of Deichen was designed and built by clever Dutchies to stop the sea from taking back the countries we live on. To get from Amsterdam to Zeeland, we had a 2 hour drive ahead. BLØF is a popular Dutch rock band from Zeeland. To get into the mood, we wanted to hear some of their songs. Nicky's a bigger fan than me, but even I know many of her songs. I guess most of the Dutch do. We turned the radio to a Dutch channel and began to hope the best. Not only hope to ask more. Joker about the manifesting power of our thoughts and calls for a few more times just to be safe. BLØF is popular, but no songs would come. I suggested that instead we could make it a mission to go to a pub and ask them to play some BLØF music. Finally we reached Zeeland and drove across the massive Delta Works structures. We're hungry and went hunting for typical Dutch herring. Unfortunately, many places were closed as it was Sunday, but a fish restaurant was still open. No herring, but many other things from the sea that I had never tried to eat. But definitely worth it. Thank you to Nicky for telling me about the food. With our belly full, we drove further to the town of Middelburg the capital of the province of Zeeland. After we parked the car, we started a completely random walk into the city. Simply left and right when it felt right, or when an interesting building attracted our attention. The main shopping street was bigger than I expected. There was also a huge church tower that impressed me. We also went through some back roads that had nothing to offer but we went anyway. It's from our intuition. At some point we went from a bar with a terrace on the canal side. It seemed like a beautiful place to sit in the sun and we were ready for our after dinner coffee. It wasn't busy, but because of the social distancing rules we couldn't sit anywhere. Fortunately, a few ladies were ready to go. They stood up as soon as they noticed us, and wished us a good time. On the other side of the street there was live music from which we could hear where we were sitting. Nothing too spectacular, just a lady with her guitar. When we set ourselves, a friendly girl took our order. While we enjoyed our coffee and the surprisingly beautiful weather, the lady who had sung and left by bike. Soon afterwards a much more convincing voice began, the water and the road to Echo. Then we heard the man actually singing a BLØF song: Everything is Liefde . It was the song Aan De Kust Nicky had hoped, but definitely still good enough. Nicky and I shared a high five for a mission complete! We tried to continue our conversation, but this deep voice claimed our attention, even from the distance we sat. Nicky said it sounded much like the real deal and suggested that it could actually be BLØF's leading singer. Even I could recognize his distinctive voice. Then Nicky said he looked like him. To confirm, I took my phone out and Googled BLØF to search for a current picture. Guess. Not only was this guy in fact Paskal Jakobsen BLØF guitarist and singer; we also sat in the HIS restaurant. Just by chance, by a collection of random decisions we had made by just right now. Yeah, that's what made us mess and ask for more massive high fives. The universe draws a massive strike on us, or so it seemed.
Beautiful little resto with delicious food! Not expensive and very creative dishes. You often change the menu! Nice to go there! Definitely get this place back to any foodie!
Great variety, with a lot of vegetarian options, and very affordable. Service was quick and the staff really friendly. The place is nicely decorated and well kept. It's a good idea to ask about portion sizes; they're all generally slightly smaller than a usual main course. We got the vega taco's, couscous and spareribs with noodles.
Cool concept with a decent choice of foods. They are reluctant to accept cash and they only accept debit cards of a certain kind if I remember correctly which doesnt make it easy to purchase food here. Slightly on the pricey side
