Reviews summary
Nestled in a charming locale, this restaurant offers a blend of experiences. While some diners rave about the delicious pub fare and friendly staff, others have encountered service hiccups and disappointing dishes. Highlights include the mixed grill and robust pies, which many patrons found exceptional. However, issues like inaccurate menu descriptions and slow service have marred some visits. Despite a few concerns, the inviting atmosphere and reasonable prices make it a worthwhile stop after a long walk or an enjoyable night out. Overall, it holds promise for great food and memorable moments if you choose wisely.

Drove into Car Park , signs everywhere saying Pay to Park . Needless to say drove out again straightaway . Later found out that if you eat in restaurant or stay at hotel you have to register at the Bar and Parking is free . Clearer signage should be visible stating this as I’m sure we are not the only ones to drive away from this pub
Stayed here for 4 wonderful nights very comfortable bed, light and airy room. Had breakfast 3 mornings which we'll cooked and delicious Had evening meals which were also well cooked and very tasty. Sue and her team were always cheerful and always helpful
The service and food was excellent. We were a group of twelve. Just perfect. However, there is a charge for parking at this establishment, but don't pay if you are using the restaurant or hotel. There is a registration pad on the bar to do this. Also, I found it difficult to book online. The software company were supposed to email me back with confirmation but didn't. I found it earlier to phone directly. Please don't let this put you off though. We had a fantastic evening here.
Under new Management stayed for 3 nights, the restaurant and bar were spotless. Service is 1st class, Breakfast is lovely, grease free and well delivered. My room was extremely clean and great value. Well done to Sue and her team. This is a great stop if you are travelling down to Devon

Great service and great team. Amy has done a brilliant job in turning the business round. All staff are working very hard to help her out and it is enjoyable to come in to eat
My partner and I spent a Saturday night at this hotel and were assigned Room 2, which was accessible from outside the main building. The room was lovely and we had a very comfortable night's sleep. We also had dinner at the restaurant, which was delicious. The staff were quick, friendly, and efficient. We will definitely be coming back!
Thank you very much for a truly amazing meal. The warm and friendly atmosphere was welcoming, even for our four-legged friend who joined us. The meals were delicious and cooked to perfection, and the desserts ended the evening on a high note. All of this at a reasonable price. This restaurant is definitely worth a visit if you find yourself in the area.
Very slow service 30 mins for coffee!! Food not too bad paid £2 to park received that back but got a £60 fine for over staying by 37 minutes due to the very slow service not Happy not one of the the staff gave a gentle reminder about parking you don't hang around when it's raining to read conditions from parking companies like that.
I’ve used this pub for years for an occasional lunch or evening meal with family and fiends. Decided to call for lunch today to find I have to pay up front for parking, select how long I’m going to be there (that would depend on how busy it is in the pub wouldn’t it? then pay upfront for the food order as they can’t “swipe a card and open a tab for the family meal”… Will not be returning better value elsewhere.
