We usually go to the cellar for fish and chips but it was closed so we tried this place. I'm glad we did because they were quick and very good. We noticed they stand the fish on it's side when it comes out of the...friar. This meant it drained the excess fat much better and the batter was crispy rather than soggy. View all feedback.
What Poppy Griffiths doesn't like about Friar Tucks Chip Shop Tiverton:
This WAS arguably the better of Tiverton’s fish and chip shops, however, after changing hands recently it is a pale imitation of its former self. The elderly gentleman serving is forgetful and slow I had to repeat the order throughout to him as he...kept forgetting. Asked for a kids meal for my son which normally comes with a drink and sweet neither of which materialised. The food is of a poor quality. Tonight’s saus... View all feedback.
I ordered a large serving of chips at this restaurant, only to find a small pile when I got home. This portion size was not enough for even one person, let alone a group. It was a complete rip off and left me feeling very disappointed.
I had the large haddock and chips and it was honestly the best fish and chips I've ever had. Keep up the great work, Chris! The chips were crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, just like my favorite fish and chips in Enfield, London. It's a shame it's hours away from my home in Palmers Green, London. I will definitely visit again when I'm in Tiverton.
Best fish and chips we have had for a while. Fish very tasty and cooked to order, not at all greasy. Lovely chips with very big portions. By far, the best chippy in Tiverton.
Great fish n chips I use it min twice a week. I would advise any one wanting a good bag of chips or a really tasty fish to go to friar tucks.
When i lived in Devon i always went here every Friday. great value for money and quick service. Years on i can honestly say i have not had chips that compare to here.
