When I was in Metz, I started quite early and a lot of cafés were still closed. Café Rubis, however, opens at 8 o' clock. It felt typically French to sit there in the morning and read the newspaper, watching other people starting their day (I guess, I was the only tourist). On sunny days, you can sit outside and get some morning sun.Unfortunately, the restaurant does not offer breakfast.
We were looking for somewhere to grab lunch. Glad we wandered into Rubis! Le Burger Maison is spectacular. The staff were all really friendly.
The deluxe burger arrived. It was really a steak sandwich but not a good piece of steak at all. The chips also were of the floppy variety and we were borderline on sending it back. Problem was we had no confidence the replacement meal would be any better. For €18 pretty poor.
What a great spot to enjoy a well cooked lunch and a glass of wine (or 2) in the sun watching the world go by!! The service was great and the food was delicious. The burger du marche was huge and the veal in mushroom and cream sauce super tasty. Just remember to bring your appetite!!
