I've been to Mt Hutt a number of times, and I always have the same feeling of awe, excitement, and astonishment looking at the beauty of the snow-capped mountains around me. It is heavenly and surreal. View all feedback.
What Kimberley Brown doesn't like about Mt Hutt Ski Area:
Very frustrating experience. All cars forced to use chains from bottom carpark including 4WD. The chain hire doesn’t have a lot of stock so a lot of people got stuck here there’s also no shuttle to get up to the mountain No half day passes so with all the faff around you’re still forced to pay $159 for the full day pass. Mt Hutt has a lot of potential but very flawed service offering. View all feedback.
The best ski field to go with family especially with kids. Very friendly and helpful staff. We went and there were lots of snow. We enjoyed our time there. The drive was absolutely stunning. Definitely worth it.
The road seemingly goes on forever, with lots of sneaky grooving and 2 inch drop off ruts to discourage low profile tyre owners, while supporting the local mag and tyre repair crews. Eventually the view opens up, and you realise you are plop in the middle of what feels like the only elevation on the entire Canterbury plains. If you can contain yourself and your rear wheel drive car, and survive your way to the top, you are rewarded with building which seem a little dated, but we aren't there for the decor, or even the toilets. The snow is the draw card, or perhaps more honestly, the lifts that allow gravity, wax, and expensive graphics to slide human tubs of lard back down the mountain without the exertion of climbing back up. Many steep and consistent faces allow the wannabe snow sport aficionado to look deep within themselves, and face the fear of unrestrained diagonal freefall, while repeating the process immediately after inevitable failures. Mt Hutt on two sticky spring days really helped level me up, and the board tech bloke with the long hair was/is a flaming legend. Quite liking this mountain midweek in spring.
Kids had a great time learning snowboarding for the first time! Great weather, very fine white snow after the heavy snow storm the previous day. We will return again in the next winter season.
Best place for ski on winter coz the snow would be melt down on summer. Amaizing view, kids friendly ski zone to pro level ski.
Great commercial ski field with all the amenities one needs for a great day in the mountains. Comfortable chair lifts, lots of terrain for different levels. Only issue is it gets extremely busy in the weekends when the snows good and the top car park fills up early!
