We decided to give it another chance yesterday, and I’m happy to report that they completely redeemed themselves! The crust was still crunchy, but this time it had great flavor. The sauce was absolutely magnificent. I’m now proud to say that I would definitely recommend giving this place a try. View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Lou Malnati's Pizzeria Mesa:
No, that's not really lou malnatis. we had lous from other locations in the valley, and they lived up to the original Chicago offers. this Mesa location is however quite müll in comparison. not sure whether this is a franchise location, and the owner does not follow the recipes and measurements, or what? ordered a chicago classic, which should have a full of sausage and cheese. I counted eight small pieces of sausage... View all feedback.
Now for the details: we ordered a vegetarian pizza, specifically the "Lou" in a deep-dish style. Since my mom enjoys mushrooms, we swapped them for spinach on the online order page, which was really easy to do without any hassle. The "Lou" is supposed to have a garlic butter crust, but unfortunately, it lacked that garlic flavor and could have used just a touch of salt. I understand why some people might not enjoy the crust. Additionally, my dad picked up the pizza and noticed that the dessert I ordered was missing, despite being charged for it. I managed to resolve this over the phone and am now waiting for the refund on my card. The staff was polite and apologetic throughout the process. As for the pizza itself, I would give it a 4 out of 5. The crust had the potential to be more flavorful, reminiscent of some Chicago-style deep-dish pizzas. If they don't use a cheese blend, I recommend sticking with simpler ingredients to achieve the perfect flavor. I’m not sure if I’d come back regularly, as the prices aren't exactly spontaneous or budget-friendly. Lou's in AZ is definitely a competitor among other deep-dish pizza restaurants, and I'm curious to see how their product evolves over time. One thing I did notice is that pineapple isn’t an option on the menu, which is surprising since it's often a staple in New York. In summary: I’m deducting one star for the bland crust; while creative, the pizza didn’t provide the value I expected. Let's just say, it needed a bit more sauce!
I recently had Lou's Pizza in Chicago, and it was fantastic! We also tried Lou's when they first opened in Phoenix, and it was fabulous then as well. I was thrilled to discover they had a location in Mesa! We ordered a medium Chicago Classic, but to our disappointment, the pizza was quite bland and lacked flavor. We ended up having to add an Italian seasoning mix and salt to enhance the taste. It was really disappointing, and I'm not sure if we'll return.

It's been a while, but we had a deep dish and a thin crust pizza and both were really good. The whole thing with the wrapper thing on top of the pizza, really didn't bother us. It seems to be there so the whole toppings and sauce don't come off onto the box lid. It does steam it a bit, but I'd really prefer that not happen, so I'm fine with it lol The taste was good. The deep dish could have been slightly cheesier, since it's a Chicago pizza, but it was still very good and fresh. We also noted that the pizza did not make us feel sick ish at all, huge plus there as many can leave you feeling kinda gross. Pretty good here and we'll be back if I get a hold of a coupon.
Alright , I did it. I said I would never spend 40 on a pizza but since my kids had coupons for individual pizzas, I thought what the heck? I ordered on the phone and the girl was exceptionally nice and informative. A girl who seemed to actually value customer service, thanks girl! The man who gave us our pizzas, super nice too. So 5 stars for employees. Now, the pizza. I've been to Chicago and had deep dish pizza but not from this famous place. The crust is very different than what I've had, I don't know how to explain it really. Dense? Cakey? Dense and cakey? The sausage was good but not what I would call Italian sausage but the mushrooms were on point! And the stewed tomatoes were good too. Good amount of cheese. Worth 40 for a large 2 topping? No. Filling? Yes. Would I eat here again? No. Just didn't live up to the hype of oh my gosh, this is the best pizza place straight from Chicago. Oh but the Ranch is delicious. Maybe next time I'll eat a salad.
