Pen Y Big Pen Y Fan Pen Y Scran in that order Waltzed around the horseshoe trail from the Taf Fechan Forest car park (c. 11 miles), taking just over 3 hours. Completely drained and dreading the drive back through Merthyr for some scran until I remembered I went past the tea room 1000m before the car park. Boshhhh! Walked in, found a table and plumped for the Old Barn Special for £10. Changed the tea for coffee and inhaled it all within 7 minutes. Everyone who works there are happy and look like they throughly enjoy their lives. As I lashed on the jam on top of my scone all of my troubles were momentarily cured. The enchanting tunes and sound of tea cups clinking as merry Welsh ladies potter about oh just take me back. Do not miss this place when you’re in town! Popped by here after a long walk. Great to have this cafe in this area. Open Sat-Thurs (closed Fridays). Nice garden space and parking. We had a couple of the old barn specials. Nice sandwiches with a small salad, moist Welsh cake and delicious freshly baked scones. Great service from a young man and woman. I’ve never been to a cafe with more choice of hand soaps.
