I went to eat with my partner when we went to visit the city and recommend the restaurant, both for the quality of the menu and for the good attention of the waiters. What eurydice2017 doesn't like about Parador De Turismo De Merida:
Very old fashioned restaurant, average food, very high undeserved price. On a positive note waiters are very friendly but that's is not enough. Won't be going back. View all feedback.
Calidad precio razonable.
Atención de 10 y comida espectacular. Platos muy bien preparados . Postres riquísimos. El personal muy atento. Recomendable cien por cien.
I go to many Paradors and often eat there. I expect the meal to be something special, in Mérida unfortunately it was anything but. As we had paid for an evening meal for the two nights up-front we were also stuck with it! The first night was poor, the second a disaster: Portions were small and nothing special. Given the price the value for money was very poor indeed. The waiters were very friendly, but there was a long wait for the food to arrive at the tables. We chose a pepper salad one night. It came out ice-cold. I almost had brain-freeze. My wife chose a rice dish, but the vegetables were inedible and she had to leave it. On the first day we were offered desserts from the menu and also from a dessert cart. The apple pie I had from said cart was the best item I ate across the two days there. On the second night we were only offered desserts from the menu. The dessert cart was still there with amongst other things an apple pie. Unfortunately we were not permitted to choose from it and were restricted to what was on the menu. On the first day my wife chose fish. It looked appetising, a decent sized portion of firm cod in a nice thick sauce. She said it actually wasn 't too bad. On the second day I thought I would try the same. A scrappy piece of cod was presented to me with something watery in the bottom of the plate. What sauce there was consisted of a small blob precariously perched on top of the piece of fish. On the first day we were given a small, free starter to tide us over until the first course arrived. On the second day we were not offered anything. Given the changes on the second day I complained to one of the waitresses. She said the chef on the second night was different to the chef on the first. The menu on display as we entered was badly translated. The Spanish the menu was titled Local Cuisine , the English one was titled Kitchen Closed , I only wish it had been!!

The food was not as good as the evening before in Toledo. This one specialized in local food whereas the Toledo parador was more focused on gourmet items.
