What Emily S doesn't like about The James Buchanan:
People should be aware that this place is not what it used to be. We have visited many times when the previous manager/staff/chef were there. We had not been in several months and went in this weekend. The staff member we got as our server was not knowledgeable about the menu and did not know what was unavailable. They took over 50 minutes to serve our cold appetizer. We were told that the 4 tables who came after us... View all feedback.

This place is lovely. We enjoyed dinning here with the previous owners. Glad it has reopened. Music selection should be according to the time of dinning. A bit more training for everyone concern. Our server was most pleasant but needs to be more knowledgeable on menu, wine, etc. The chef needs to learn techniques if he is going to reheat food. I thought I would try the lamb sausage, they were so overly cooked, dry and hard. As far as seasonings our brunch had no pop or flavors. Extra care of presentation is always a plus. We will return to give another try. Parking: Other than parking on the street which all depends on when you go you may have meter parking. If you go in the alley beside there is a small parking area in the back, which is free. Service: Dine in Meal type: Brunch Price per person: $30–50 Food: 3 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 4 Parking space: Somewhat difficult to find parking
This restaurant has unfortunately changed for the worse. We used to enjoy it frequently when the previous manager, staff, and chef were in charge. After a few months away, we decided to return this weekend, but our experience was disappointing. Our server seemed unfamiliar with the menu and couldn't inform us of unavailable items. It took over 50 minutes for our cold appetizer to arrive, and we were told that four tables that came in after us had their orders processed first. When we inquired about this, the staff responded defensively, despite our having arrived and reserved a table before those customers. Frustrated, we left after paying for the appetizer we had received, and there was no offer of compensation for our poor experience. On a positive note, the outdoor seating area is beautiful, and we will miss it. Food: 1, Service: 1, Atmosphere: 3.
