Mercallo is a sleepy village off the tourist trail, situated just off busy SS629 near lake Comabbio. We had a delay in our accommodation and advised to have a drink in the cafe while we waited. Alberto, his wife, staff and customers are a friendly bunch who go out of their way to make you feel welcome. The cafe sells a range of ice cream/cakes as well as hot and cold drinks. Very nice bar and welcome; I made a great breakfast, the foam of my latte was sublime.
