We were very happy when we returned to Mercallo after two years to find Azzura, Alberto and Nina still here. The hospitality offered by Azzurra is exceptional...we were welcomed as old friends by Alberto and Nina and the Mercallo community and given service food and drinks of exceptional standard...Azzura is a perfect example of genuine traditional Italian hospitality and is a ‘must stop’ when you are in this area of Italy...the coffee alone is worth the stop
Mercallo is a sleepy village off the tourist trail, situated just off busy SS629 near lake Comabbio. We had a delay in our accommodation and advised to have a drink in the cafe while we waited. Alberto, his wife, staff and customers are a friendly bunch who go out of their way to make you feel welcome. The cafe sells a range of ice cream/cakes as well as hot and cold drinks. In the evening they supply snacks/light bites with your drinks which is great if you've had a busy day touring! They're happy to mix a cocktail and there's a range of wine, bottle and tap beers (if you want a bottle then ask to see the selection). We're staying in the village for a month and have already been back it won't be the last time as there's no better way to round down the day!

Very nice bar and welcome; I made a great breakfast, the foam of my latte was sublime.
