The tempura and the kyosho roll are awesome, while I think the sashimi here is a bit overprice. But the overal experience is good here and they offer nice services. View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Kyosho:
Blonde lady who seemed to be in charge was completely rude to me and some food delivery drivers who came to pick up online orders.1. Brushes people off with her hands mid conversation.2. Claimed to be busy when the restaurant has about half a dozen diners with most guests vegetating around after paying their bills. Will never touch her restaurant premises with a 10 foot pole. The quality of seafood is very good. The tempura is crunchy and slightly broken. Try the Chawanmushi. For Desserr, try the Macha cheesecake.
Chef tasting menu dining experience Kyosho is definitely one of the best Japanese restaurants you can find in South Bay. But since it’s a tasting menu I’m holding it to a higher standard. The first two dishes started out amazing. The yuzu vinegar in the toro mix is very refreshing and the chawamushi gives a nice (homey) variety. I’m not impressed by the next three dishes however. The sashimi sampler is a bit underwhelming (doesn’t show chef skills really). The hotpot sea bass is ok (lots of broth but broth is not drinkable). Then the hamachi crude feels repetitive after the sashimi sampler. The waitress was super nice for pouring me a glass of sake. The nigiri afterwards were delicious. The strawberry cheesecake is good but not wow. Overall for the price the omakase menu feels a bit awkward. I can pay a bit more and get a premium omakase experience. Or I can spend less and there are other places with better nigiris. I probably wouldn’t get the tasting menu here again.
Wonderful creative sushi. Great selection of sakes. Some dishes are expensive, but it's worth it.
I have visited this restaurant several times. While it is on the smaller side, I was fortunate to be seated relatively quickly. The staff is both friendly and efficient, and the food is consistently delicious. The sashimi is a standout dish. I have not yet tried the specials, but overall, the quality is worth the slightly higher price point compared to other sushi spots in the area. Although my top sushi spot with the best value is Omee J Fusion in Santa Clara, this restaurant is definitely worth a visit. If you find yourself in downtown Menlo Park, I would recommend giving it a try.
The sushi rolls had good flavor, but were slightly smaller than expected for the price compared to other restaurants in the area. We ordered five rolls and two of us were able to finish them all in one sitting. The ingredients were fresh and the rolls were beautifully made. The five rolls came in four environmentally friendly boxes, minimizing the use of plastic. Overall, we enjoyed the presentation, preparation, and taste of the rolls. The food was also served promptly.
