What Adele Mitchell doesn't like about The Red Lion:
Called in today for some pub lunch. We both chose the Yorkshire pudding with beef brisket. Sat down with our drinks and 5 minutes later the food came along......surprised at the suddeness of it being ready so quickly and it doesn't usually bode well when...this happens. And you know what, it was utter sh*t!! Infact, it was so bad, i couldn't stop laughing!!! The beef brisket was something akin to a going on a stag do... View all feedback.
Went here for dinner with the family. The team were very accommodating, friendly and very good service. The food was great. I had the steak from the specials board- it’s was probably the nicest steak I have had in a long time. Cooked to perfection. Would highly recommend and looking forward to returning.
Awful service, our custom clearly wasn't welcome. We won't be returning. A sunny Saturday afternoon visit, but there were clouds hanging over the landlady. We couldn't have the food we wanted, everything was too much bother! The waiting staff weren't to blame and were dutiful.
Having eaten here before, we arrived early for lunch before it got too crowded! The service is always good and the staff is very nice and welcoming. I ordered the warm bacon and chorizo salad with balsamic dressing, it was absolutely wonderful. My husband opted for the 'ham and eggs' with delicious fries. We didn't have room for desserts, but on previous visits the ice cream in tuille baskets was declared to be a delight. There was an American family sitting by the wood-burning fire who seemed delighted to have found an authentic English pub serving a meal. The atmosphere is lovely, the beers are great and worth a visit.
We visited for lunch having reserved a table. The pub is currently decorated with many awards for the quality of the food and beer on display near the bar. Four of us dined and had the cauliflower, broccoli bake with hand-cut chips. The cheese had a nice strong flavor and the chips were cooked perfectly. Others had the trio of pies, each of which was very tasty. The final member of our group had the ham and chips which, like all the meals, was very flavorful and a generous portion. We skipped starters to save room for dessert. Again, everything was well-presented, fresh, and enjoyable. Two rounds of drinks and coffees came to a total of £80.
Bar staff rude, including the manager. Obviously can't cope during busy periods. The place was a mess and no clean tables available. Unhelpful manager with a bad attitude.
