We had an excellent room overlooki... read more We stayed in Melk for two nights in October in order to visit the Stift. Hotel zur Post is a family run, very friendly hotel. We had an excellent room overlooking the main square with a lovely view of the Stift. The room was clean, very comfortable, and breakfast was excellent. We had Dinner in the hotel's restaurant one night and thoroughly enjoyed it. Excellent cooking, varied menu, great service, good range of wines, lovely atmosphere. All in all a thoroughly enjoyable stay.

I didn’t feel well so I only ordered soup. They don’t want that. First my friend had to wait till I finished the soup and than, when I ordered one more soup, it was diluted with water so the tast wasn’t good. Watery. The waiter atmitted that they dilute the soup but didn’t do anything to correct it.

We had beef dishes and pumpkin dumplings to share in the... read more We just followed our instinct to look for restaurant for our lunch and glad to have made a wise choice. We had beef dishes and pumpkin dumplings to share in the open seating. Although they tend to be pretty heavy, all are very yummy. The waitress is friendly and our order is quick to arrive. It is pleasant to stop over at Zur Post by the relaxing environment after visiting the Melk abbey.
