**Restaurant Review: A Mixed Bag at Top Paddock**

Located on a bustling street, Top Paddock offers a lively atmosphere and prompt service that can occasionally feel overwhelming. While patrons enjoy flavorful dishes like the paddock breakfast and renowned hotcakes, the portion sizes and pricing often raise eyebrows. Many diners appreciate the overall quality but feel that the menu lacks the memorable flair that justifies the higher costs. Despite the noise and chaotic environment, the café remains a popular brunch spot with commendable coffee and friendly staff. Ultimately, Top Paddock may appeal to those seeking convenience over a tranquil dining experience.

Was Anonym at Top Paddock a mag?

This is my favorite café, not just in Melbourne but in the entire world! Their hotcake is the dish I always order. If I were on death row, it would be my last meal! It’s simply the best! View all feedback.

What Anonym dislikes about Top Paddock:

The service was prompt and efficient, but it wasn't anything extraordinary. Our meals arrived quickly and looked nice, but at nearly $30 each (I added avocado and my friend added bacon to two $23 dishes), I wouldn't say it was worth the price. A larger portion or lower prices would definitely improve the value. I've had much larger and tastier brunches for a lot less money and left feeling more satisfied. Spending $6... View all feedback.

My recent visit to Top Paddock cafe was an absolute delight! The food was simply outstanding. I can't stop thinking about the brioche and mushroom truffle croissants, they were honestly the best I've ever had. Every bite was a perfect combination of flaky pastry and rich, savory filling. The coffee was expertly made, and the fresh juice was the perfect complement to the meal. Beyond the incredible food and drinks, the atmosphere was wonderful. It's clear why this place is so popular. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a truly amazing brunch experience. I will definitely be back! Meal type: Lunch Price per person: A$1–20 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Vegetarian options: Great options for vegetarians

The service was decent and the location is trendy. However, it felt a bit overpriced. The food was good, and the atmosphere really adds to the experience, making it perfect for breakfast and brunch. It can be quite noisy, though.

This brunch spot in Melbourne is so freaking cute! And the food is soooo good. I loved the coffee as well. It was the perfect place to start our day in Melbourne. The matcha was good and grassy. The eggs were cooked perfectly as well. The inside is very nice too. There was a bit of a wait but I think it was well worth it.

Our cappuccinos were great. We ordered the macro bowl with avocado, kale, sweet potato, broccoli, beet root, snow pea tendrils, quinoa, and almonds. They forgot the mustard vinaigrette, so the dish was bland. Minus one star. We ate it like that because our second dish was so rich. The second dish was the blueberry ricotta hot cakes. It came decorated in raspberries, strawberries, and colorful flowers. Almost, but not quite, too beautiful to eat. It had macadamias, and seeds. The bottom was moistened with lemon myrtle sugar, and strawberry eucalyptus syrup. On top was a scoop of cream whipped to one stage short of butter. Soft, smooth, silky, and decadent. It must have been in cast iron because the edges got this firm, dark brown character that provided a little resistance to the bite. In short, a gustatory masterpiece. Stop reading, go out and get it. Bon appetit.

After our youngest son returned from Europe, previously living in Elwood, we knew the apple cart would be upturned when it came to visiting and coffee, cafes and restaurants. We loved Elwood Village, so quaint and quiet, the Combi Elwood, the Turtle Cafe, others, and we knew nothing of his new Richmond stomping ground. So, after a quick ask-around Top Paddock was recommended as a comparable venue. And it was, although a bit more commercially located. It wasn 't Elwood Village, but then few locations ever will be. We opened our order with Lattes and Espressos, adding a sparkling water, then headed straight for the Top Paddock Big Breakfast $25), the Chilli Scrambled Eggs with Bacon $29) and the Eggs Benedict $23) and a Cold Press drink $9). We exited with a morning tab of $102.70 for three people which included GST. Was it good? Yes. Was it memorable? No. There are plenty of places around Richmond and into South Yarra plating similar food that 's just as good. However, convenience trumped looking for any other venue in this instance. And the name...that 's where brand value makes up for a lot.

My days in Melbourne revolve around many cafe hopping adventures! And to have shared a split moment of my life at Top Paddock was an absolute bliss. From the same talented group who created The Kettle Black, you can expect some magical looking brunch at Top Paddock! But first getting here was quite tricky. It involves some navigating unfamiliar streets, as the venue is kinda off the grid. The experience, however, was certainly worth the effort to get here. Upon walking in, I was instantly in love with the Interior it was a spacious dining area with sunlit windows and green surroundings the kind of cafe that offers you a little piece of solitude. Top Paddock most iconic menu is their Blueberry and Ricotta Hotcake. It is a beautifully plated thick hotcake infused generously in maple syrup, topped with fresh fruits, seeds, cream and garnished with eye popping edible flowers It was nothing less than scrumptious! Portion wise it was ginormous and easily last me through my next meal. For my coffee, I ordered their flat white; it was gentle tasting and smooth. I could drink this all day! Short to say, Top Paddock does not disappoint in any way. From the gorgeous food to inspiring atmosphere. The price is as what you'd expect to pay at a fine cafe in Melbourne... heavy on the pocket! But if you're looking for a gratifying cafe experience with Instagram worthy food, Top Paddock surely delivers.

Finally made it here from South Yarra! Just a quick stroll over the Yarra to eat at this deceptively large cafe, restaurant. It was busy! But they squeezed us on the bar which was fun to watch the baristas working their magic

On a Saturday morning, my friend and I decided to check out this café, but it was full! We were lucky to get a table outside, and the restaurant was beautifully decorated. The firewood heating at the entrance added a cosy touch. The outdoor seating was also excellent, with overhead heaters keeping us warm even in the open air. However, the indoor area might become rather noisy, so I was happy with my outdoor seating. They offered a QR code ordering and payment system, which was convenient, but any alterations to your order, such as making it vegetarian only, had to be made at the cashier. I got the magic and the beef brisket hash. The beef brisket was very tender and soft, although a few chunks were simply fat. The hummus, potato, onion, crushed peas, and poached egg on the soft focaccia, on the other hand, was amazing! It elevated the entire dish to a new level of flavour and satisfaction. The coffee, on the other hand, was good but not outstanding. There was no doubt that the staffs were friendly, but they appeared to be busy, so you may need to be patient. Overall, it was an enjoyable one, and I'd consider returning to try some of their other dishes.

This lively café has a lively atmosphere that's almost chaotic, but they consistently deliver top-notch food and drinks. There's no doubt about it—everything was prepared flawlessly and had distinct flavors that truly set it apart from other places. My only issue was the busy environment; it required a bit of effort to describe each dish I had and to navigate my way to the cashier to settle the bill. It can get quite crowded, but we walked in at 11 and had no trouble finding a table for two. I will definitely return!

Location : Located in such a busy street. Parking was really hard to find on a weekend. Place: Such a nice cosy place to catch up with friends though It was really busy and very loud. You really have to speak up. Service: The service was great. We were attended to really fast and we didn’t wait for long for the food. Food: Great flavours and very tasty. Good portion ! I couldn’t walk by the end of it. Price is decent Recommend: I would recommend to try this place out. It may not be for everyone. Some people like more of a quiet place but this one can be crowded.

Super grateful to live only a 10 minute walk from this gem in the city. Coffee is excellent and the food is exceptional. The dining room is large and creative with lots of spaces and options depending on your mood. Always a great vibe. Today was the chilli scramble that looks like it’s recently had spicy pork sausage added to it

The service was quick and efficient, but it wasn’t particularly impressive. The food arrived promptly and was visually appealing, but at nearly $30 each (after adding avocado and bacon to two $23 dishes), I wouldn't consider it a good value. The portions could be larger, or the prices could be lower. I've had much larger and tastier brunches for significantly less money, leaving me feeling more satisfied. Paying $6 for just two flimsy pieces of bacon feels unfair. On the positive side, the atmosphere is nice, but the pricing is definitely off.

The menu and atmosphere were fantastic! However, we were not particularly impressed with the level of customer service provided by our waitress.

Service was aggressive and confusing. When we were seated our waitress asked if we would like to order drinks we replied sure to which our waitress yelled at us “Well tell me what you want then!” Later when we ordered food we asked to swap out the eggs for one of the sides options and our waitress replied authoritatively “I’m not doing that. I’ll remove the eggs and still charge you for the full meal and if you want a side, I’ll charge you for the sides”. We didn’t deserve to be spoken to like that and are honestly baffled by the experience.

The menu was extensive and the atmosphere was enjoyable! However, we were not particularly impressed by the service from our waiter, which seemed lacking.

Service was aggressive and confusing. when we sat our waitress, we asked if we would like to order drinks, we answered which our waitress shouted at us: “Well tell me what they want!” later, when we ordered food, we asked to exchange the eggs for one of the sides and our waitress answered decisive wisely “I do not. I will remove the eggs and still charge you for the full meal and if you want one side, I will charge you for the sides.” we did not deserve to speak so and are honestly betrayed by the experience.

I find it concerning the change in this restaurant . I have been here several times and the food has lessened In quality and choice. The service was such that you couldn’t even get lactose free milk . The staff never came back to see if we needed more coffee etc I am really sorry to say how disappointed it was given we spent $70.00 I would expect much better quality food; larger menu and a decent lactose free coffee . I hood you can improve use to be my happy place not so now.
