Threshermans is a great place to meet up with friends for a meal or coffee. Cheap meals make it popular with university students and the bakery is very good. Has changed owners recently and service has dropped slightly, but is still very good. View all feedback.
What Enid Wilkinson doesn't like about Thresherman's Bakehouse:
Its been over a year since I last ate a meal here & this eatery has definitely improved. Its still a large open industrial space with quirky signs & artefacts from its previous life, nice atmosphere. Breakfast was tasty & reasonably priced. I had a vegetarian meal, partner had the breakfast roll. There is a good selection of cakes & sandwiches on offer as well. My companions coffee was excellent. A good restaurant for an inexpensive lunch if you are in Lygon Street or Carlton, Melbourne. A casual and relaxed atmosphere serving a wide variety of salads, hot dishes and alcohol. Popular with university staff since it is close to Melbourne University. Plenty of seating so it is unlikely to be full when you arrive. No reservations though, just turn up.

I'm a Tea drinker & I was pleasantly surprised to have tea made with fresh leaves. Service was friendly. Good way to start my day.
Had 2 hrs to spare and set myself down with a pot of tea , an almond croissant and pen and card. Despite the large warehouse feeling this cafe is warm and has lots of seating options for all . I was able to wile away my time enjoying my tea and writing . My teapot was refilled and the croissant was a satisfying addition. I didn't feel hassled for taking up a seat for an extended time.
I used to love coming here when I lived in Melbourne and was disappointed to see how far the standards had dropped on my last trip.Ordered smashed Avo on toast thinking you can't possibly get that wrong and it was a paste that had so much lemon juice in it that I was sure it had been continually added to stop the avocado going brown.Hot chocolate was very weak and tasted awful. Didn't finish either dish and won't be going back. Very disappointed.
