The Kettle Black - Melbourne

This place is very fashionable in a city where breakfast is all day. It was cold and we had to wait outside, which was not very pleasant. The food was ok-ish but the maple syrup used for the cake was so sweet that it overwhelmed any other taste. Coffee coiffable but not great.

It was amazing food when it eventually came to the table but I had to wait 40 minutes in line and then 60 minutes to get my food. I don't mind standing in line and waiting for food but it took 60 minutes after I ordered it until I got the food and that's too much for me. The staff was ignoring the looks I gave them and didn't come to apologize for the hold up or anything which for me is a lack of service but otherwise.. if you can see past that - the food was amazing, especially the Hotcake. But the staff needs to live up to the food they are providing.

A modern restaurant, the food was great but the wait was long! I would suggest trying to go at a non peak time. The flavours just work and I had a very enjoyable breakfast!

Scrambled egg with crab flesh was sensational, avo dish was, well an avo and some toast -with a poachy- still delicious. Coffee was served hot and fast! Highly recommend this spot to a local or the out-of-towner.
