Delicious, consistent and very friendly service at a very competitive price. Whats so fantastic about this place is that, although the menu isn't huge, it changes from day to day and is consistently delicious. But better than that! it tastes like home cooked food!!! take it from me, as a Sri Lankan, its home cooked food cooked with love! I'm a regular and love it. A rare little gem:) View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about The Curry Bowl:
The curry bowl on Elizabeth street which is now closed was a much better run food outlet, it was cleaner and was organised with a plentiful amount of food ready to sell. This version shows that the owners need to pay attention to their business. Staff who don’t know what days they will have certain products, no customer service inclination, cleanliness not the best – pretty sloppy all round. Great if you like chilli... View all feedback.
Came here for a takeaway samosa and pav roll set. The pav wasn't the soft bread roll I expected, but instead a roti stuffed with spiced veg and deep fried. It wasn't too greasy, surprisingly, and had a perfect texture and flavour when eaten hot. The samosas were good as well, although I prefer a thicker, doughier shell to the filo these came wrapped in.
My score 3.5 stars. J got TA for dinner from here on Wed 10th Apr – woman serving was very pleasant service was great. <br/ <br/ We had a: Regular Combo $11.50 – 1 meat curry, 2 veg, Chilli, Chutney, Papadum and a: Vego Combo $10.50 – 3 veg, Chilli, Chutney, Papadum.<br/ <br/ Sri Lankan chicken curry Good spicy, moist chicken – overall not bad. Eggplant curry A bit “moju” like, soft eggplant nice caramelised onion – pretty good! Pea cashew curry Lotso peas, not much cashew more a gravy peas were fairly firm, but tasted ok. Dhal Was ok a bit grainy. Mixed veg Mainly carrot potato – not bad. <br/ <br/ Rice Tasty, moist some TA places it can be quite hard/dry . Chutney Sweet, but not bad a bit “pruney” . Papadums Very thin, ok, not oily at all. Chilli Hot a bit like sambal IMO . Yoghurt A tiny bit of very stiff/dry yoghurt strange .<br/ <br/ Prices slightly out of date on Zomato, but would do TA again. Price pretty good for amount quality more a TA place than eat in though…
An Indian fix for the local workers who want something quick and easy. They have a bunch of premade food which you can pick and choose, I got the lamb, dhal and eggplant curry to go all packed into a takeaway container. It was all was mild (I'm a bit of a wuss), lamb was a bit dry but the eggplant was nice and caramelized all resting on top a bed of biryani. They also throw in a lovely papadum and optional yoghurt, sweet chutney and chilli for you chilli fiends out there.Workmates love going down to grab a samosa or two as a cheeky treat.
This small curry restaurant has a fast turnover and only accepts cash payments. There was a steady flow of customers while I was dining. The curries are excellent, especially the lamb and vegetable Dahl, eggplant curry, served with papadam, yogurt, and curry paste on the side. The portions are generous and reasonably priced. The service is efficient and quick. Overall, a great dining experience recommended for busy workers.
This restaurant is a fantastic option for an affordable lunch. For under $10, you get a serving of rice along with your choice of meat and two vegetables. The eggplant dish is particularly tasty. The portion sizes are generous, making it a great choice for those on a budget.
